I looooooove Etsy. I buy most of my gifts there. Will start selling my jewelry there soon too.Â
i was just going to post about etsy!!
question: if i had one of the sellers make my invitations do you think it would be cheaper than if i DIYed them? because i know it would be a heck of a lot easier!! and it seems as if the quality is good.
on the other hand, is it a better value than purchasing paper and having it printed at kinkos?
pricing looks like $450ish for 100 invites. Here are my favorites:

Has anyone ever purchased invites from etsy before?
Here's a great blog devoted completely to wedding-related items on Etsy:

There are some great finds!!!
I found this woman's site with such cute clutches and jewelry wraps that would make great bridesmaid gifts!
If you're buying from Etsy look into the seller's sales records/recommentations or negative feedback - that will give you a reference for how they do business.
Also feel free to email the seller and ask for specific references - for something like invitations or another "can't go back" kind of purchase, it would be best to hear about the quality and timeliness from another purchaser.
Etsy is amazing and any purchase I've made has been a smooth and great transaction and I've always been impressed with the product.
I am an Etsy seller myself (www.waisze.etsy.com) and Etsy is a wonderful place especially for DIY wedding stuff. There's a whole section of wedding items. There's a wide range of prices so you should definitely check it out. Even though Etsy is comprised of mostly small at home businesses, many are professionals at what they do. (Hey have to start somewhere!) If you are unsure about the seller, just check the feedback to gain some reassurance!
I actually bought all my jewelry and bridesmaid jewelry from etsy. If you just ask anyone would customize for you. colors, sizes etc. Here were there postings for the items I purchased. All the sellers I dealt with were really friendly and offered great service. bridesmaid necklaces and "something blue" anklet (These looked a lot more prettier in person too) http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=6956338 http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=7270858

Here were other great sellers I was considering for bridal jewelry or hair pieces http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5089753 http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=22981
Hi I'm an etsy seller and I tend to DIY wedding invitations & special events using my gocco. Please feel free to look at my shop at: http://www.fadingflowers.etsy.com
I love Etsy! I've been selling wedding invitations on that site for a while. Come visit if you get a chance! :D
teacherbride - I am getting my invites cutom made from the second etsy seller heatherjeany and she has been so nice so far, and her feedback is awesome, she is very reasonable as far as pricing goes as well. I was very conflicted with the decision on my invites since they are my biggest obsession and I knew from the start I would not be diy'ng them, but I am so happy I decided to go with her, I can't wait to start the design process. I love etsy!!!
I bought my veil on etsy. I had a great experience with the vendor. Heidi is so nice and the veil came fast and it's beautiful! Mine was custom made and still amazingly afordable, I'd definitely check her out. I was really scared of the whole thing, but it was a great experience. Hooray for Etsy!
Heatherjeany did my invitations from etsy. Everyone really loved them - I received a ton of compliments on how "fancy dancy" they were.
Heatherjeany is AMAZING. She did my invitations and thank you notes and I can't say enough about her. She's a FANTASTIC deal for custom invites. We also bought the boy's ties off Etsy (One of the bees blogged about the seller the other day).
Etsy is a gem. Love it.
Jonabags - So glad to hear that you're doing well in your shop! All my bridesmaids loved your bags!
Does anyone have any tips on how to navigate etsy? I always find it really daunting to get pages and pages of hits from a single search...
Thanks
Does anybody have any pictures of their headpieces/ hair pieces they got from Etsy? I am trying to decide what I want to do...
Thanks!
There is a great blog, Etsy Wedding, that posts great finds! I bought a lot of things from Etsy for our wedding: bridesmaids jewelry, hair flower, cake topper, stationary and STDs, a wedding sign, and some cute guestbook pens!

I bought several cute things on etsy and have been very happy with the quality of the items.
Turned to etsy as well for my wedding invites and hair accessory. I was totally hesitant at first too because you never know what you might get. If you can find the right store though, it's awesome!
1. Hornbill Hill: bought english/chinese invites and the placecards. We had an Asian garden wedding, which is impossible to find a matching invitation set anywhere!!!!!! Worked with jennifer and got so many compliments.
2. Red Light Studio: bought cake topper of now-husband and I. Cynthia worked with me to customize our topper and it turned out perfect. Couldn't help but smile everytime i looked at it during our wedding. ;)
2. Little white dresser: a little pricey but worht every penny!!!! I got a hairpiece for myself and necklaces for my bridesmaids. These are things you just can't find at a retail store, not even the boutique ones.
hope that helps everyone! if you want to see pics, just message me.
I DIYed my invites and they turned out to cost as much as a letterpress invite set from Etsy. Wish I could turn back time! It would have saved me SOOOOO much stress and time! I did end up using Letterpress Light for some accent work and for my thank you notes. LOVE that vendor!
I paid an etsy vendor for the digital files for our invites and did them myself. I, too ended up spending more than if I had them done for me, plus the stress of doing them myself.
If I could do it over, I wouldn't take that on.
Just my 2 cents....
i've been looking for invites on etsy and realized one thing that may be of help to other etsy brides: paper weight makes a difference. I purchased samples from several stores and was blown away by how good vs how bad some look. Stores with cheaper invitations use 80lb paper. It feels really thin and flimsy, and not nice enough for a wedding. Just throwing in my two cents too before you spend money on samples.
