We are a couple from NYC who got engaged in Venice last September and have been on and off planning a big wedding (his side is from italy/ecuador w/ crazy amounts of aunts/uncles/cousins) and it was turning out to be a 90 person affair with a price tag of $30,000. Some complications have arose amounting to my family unfortunately not being able to help out with the bill so instead of downsizing the wedding to keep it local we are eloping to Paris!
It’s just going to be my parents and his parents along with my 19 year old sister and I can’t hold in my excitement any longer! Since we arn’t telling family members/friends, I needed to tell someone and who better than the wonderful weddingbee community!
I’m turning to anyone who has been/lives in/eloped to Paris for help.
I’ve been researching Photographers and have come up with 2 solid potentials –
Ian Holmes and One & Only Photography
Has anyone worked with either of these photographers?
We want to get married behind the Notre Dame in the garden areas and then take some photos with some amazing backdrops, and finally end up at a restaurant that has private rooms for 6-8 people.
& for a 12 night honeymoon right from Paris we are debating on which Greek Islands to hop to – so far we narrowed it down to Mykonos and Santorini along with Sardinia off of Italy and Venice to celebrate since we got engaged there.
Any advice on photographers/locations/restaurants/hotels/honeymoon spots would be SO helpful!
THANK YOU BEES! <3

First of all, congratulations!
I spent a semester in Paris. My favorite restaurant (right near Notre-Dame!) was La Solita Taverna. I went there at least once a week. I’m pretty sure they host private parties upstairs.
As for hotels, I stayed at Hôtel Saint-Germain-des-Prés several years ago and enjoyed it.
Feel free to message me if you have any questions about the city! 🙂

Just a heads up, you need to establish residency to be legally married in France. It takes about a month. For that reason, we are marrying in Gibraltar, which only needs one day!

Your plans are very similar to mine so I will tell you what I have found out so far. Firstly for a photographer we are using Catherine O’Hara Photography, she has been very helpful and has some great work on her webpage and facebook profile.
As far as restaurants go, the name I keep coming accross is Laperouse. It has a number of private rooms that you can choose from on their website and although I have not personally been there, I have read some good reviews of the food there.
You will really have to get the help of someone local for locations in Paris, there are just so many to choose from. I do like the area you are talking about behind the Notre Dame, its gorgeous there.
