It might work in a very short term way. My concern would be that I'd want to do it as close to the wedding as possible (that morning, day before) and I would be worried it would turn my very sensitive skin bright red, or leave a rash.
Wow. 10 inches? That's insanity!!!!!! My dress wouldn't work anymore. I would skip it. Maybe do it right after the wedding for the honeymoon? Weird. 10 inches is a lot to lose so fast.
Wow, that is a lot to drop at once. I've heard a lot of people say that body wraps just make you lose water rather than fat. How long ago did your friend do this, and did the inches that she lost eventually return?
I have a friend who does them, and yeah, it's just water weight. I was going to do it, but then decided to do the no-salt diet instead and I sitll lost 7 pounds of water weight. And it didn't cost me $150
My mom had one of these done on a cruise. It's pretty sketch how they measure the six inches though...
They measured several places - a few on each leg, hips, waist, arms, neck, etc. then added them all up. They told her she lost something like 11 inches, but it wasn't more than .5 inch in any one place!
The one she did mostly just sucked out stored water - it helped, but their advertising is misleading.
I totally agree with starshine. A friend of mine and I had this done and they measure me in about 12-14 different locations- so none of the losses was more than 1/4 inch in any one place. We did talk to one girl who had been coming for a month or so (about 4-6 sessions) and she had more dramatic results, but it's pretty costly for something like that- and as others have mentioned, I think the majority of it is water weight. You could probably do just as well at a sauna somewhere.
It is just water weight. The same as the high school wrestlers used to do to "make weight" when they wrapped themselves in plastic wrap, or wore heavy jogging suits to run, or sat in the sauna for hours.
You can do the same thing by avoiding flour, sugar & salt in the days leading up to the wedding and save yourself tons of $$$. Your money would be better spent on a massage to help you relax!
water weight.
there really is no quick fix for losing weight (that is healthy) besides diet and exercise. (and maybe some spanx. :p )

I was wondering if anyone has tried the european body wrap to lose inches?? My best friend did it before her wedding and lost 10 inches! Most places guarantee that you will lose 6 inches (not lbs) or it is free.
I'm thinking about trying it, but don't want to waste my money!
Here is a description of how it is supposed to work:
The body wrap is an advanced development that works on shrinking the adipose tissue of fat called cellulite that is found directly below the surface of the skin. Body Wrapping eliminates toxins and impurities that have built up in the body plus helps to rid the body of cellulite. It detoxifies your body, tightens loose tissue, exfoliates, smoothes and softens your skin.
