Evening only reception?

I did a similar thing for my first wedding, I had the ceremony at 5pm and then went straight into the evening part. We had canapes and champagne etc after the ceremony (what US bees know as cocktail hour I suppose) and then went straight from there into the reception. What I would say is, you do need to feed people reasonably early. In a typical ‘evening do’ you might get a buffet at 9pm, but that will be too late for your guests if they haven’t had any dinner. We did food at about 7pm and the evening just went on from there.

3pm is much closer to ‘standard’ wedding time than 5pm though (at least in the UK). Say your wedding ceremony finishes by 4pm at the latest then when would you be planning for your reception to start?

Winterbride_England:  Sounds just fine! You have all the boxes ticked – the ceremony , snacks and the reception!

We are having a morning ceremony and a lunch – mind you not fancy lunch! So people will be ther to celebrate  our special union . I know it sounds cheap and nasty but we want to focus on ceremony. We plan to go out as an informal party at night. So would you say not having a formal reception is not ok? Well WE and our familias think its ok, so what to worry about!

Do not worry you are going to have a grand time. Who on earth ever remembers breakfast anyways??

Winterbride_England:  That sounds really awesome, I would love candlelit ceremony!! Is it a week day or a weekend?

I love the idea of the desert table, btw, I bet that’s all FI’s father would eat! LOL ( he’s lucky – a tiny man, I better keep away from all the donuts… te te) I would go for deret tableover sweetie bar any time!

Winterbride_England:  Then maybe it is for the best – to have it in the evening after all!

Re: deserts – FI even suggested having a dessert buffet lunch ( I guess it goes in the lines of cake and punch – very vintage!) and as long as there is CHOCOLATE MOUSSE he and FFIL are happy.

(Its a family anecdote FFIL going some posh buffet dinner and skipping dinner and only having dessert and choc moussse in particular. He even requested a BOWL because apperently the dainty dessert plates were not large enough – he is sooo hilarious, love him to bits!)

Yep totally unfair – once FI and I went on a diet (Tesco) (have the same amout of weight to lose) he only ate diet dinner and normal breakfast and lunch and i did full on diet + excercise including strength and running. After the 1st week i GAIN 2 pounds  and lose 2 pounds by the end of the 5th week. FI loses 20 pounds!!!! ha ha oh well, some curves on females are fine thank goodness. 🙂

I am actually checking my emails every 15 min to see if my fav venue replied about their availability. I am hoping and praying they are willing to do our morning do because I LOVE their chapel! ( we do have a VERY good quote from another place for a garden ceremony, but i prefer the chapel in case it rains!)

I am also peering out of the window through the rain in case there is a parcel force van bringing my vintage wedding gown. :o)

I am ruined I am afraid. LOL ( tomorrow working so no emails or parcels arrrgh!!!)

They must reply NOW. 🙂
