We had a very late wedding.. Our cocktail hour was at 7pm... Ceremony at 8:30pm and Reception that included dinner was from 9pm-1am. With a late wedding we realized that people were leaving before we even cut the cake! So my advice is to do all the main activities to the 1st half. We kept our speeches to 10 min total and we had 6 people make toasts. Our speeches were done during the end of dinner... After dinner - we did the father-daughter and mother-son dancde. Our 1st dance was in the beginning right after we entered the room. All the songs were no more than 4 min long each. My boquet toss and the gartner toss was at the end 12:20pm- right after we cut the cake.

Hey Everyone I need some ideas...
We are doing an evening wedding in which starts at 7pm. The ceremony is a five minute drive (if that) from the reception hall. We are having a strolling reception with heavy appetizers, bar, cake and what not. The invitation has the reception starting around 8pm. Photos are also being done prior to the ceremony and reception!!
Im unsure on how to time everything from speeches, dances, garter toss and what not. We are hoping to keep speeches short and sweet; bride and groom, parents, maid of honour and best man (who do it together as they are married) and then a toast from Brides family friend!
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
