I'm having a tent wedding with dreams of all the beautiful draping and paper lanterns in the tent and one of the things I'm most worried about is actually pulling it off and setting it up the day of (I can't imagine that a tent rental company would set up everything for me and I don't want my family having to do it).

Im basically confused on who I would need to hire. I'm not opposed to hiring a wedding coordinator, but I'm not sure if that's what they do or if they would just hire an event design company themselves and oversee it (as oppoesd to me hiring them myself and cut out the cost of the wedding coordinator). On all of the wedding tv shows, they show the wedding planner doing it all. So what do I need, a wedding planner or an event planner? What are the basic differences between the two?

Hello!

To answer your question, Some Wedding planners do Event Design, some hire Event designers. It will come down to which company you choose. Key is to look in their descriptiong of "services". If they do NOT explicitly say we "design" events, or do "event design" or some combination of the terms, then assume they would hire outside for that. But I would still call and ask the company do you "do the Event Design, or do you hire/outsource this?" This is a very fair question to have clearly answered before you hire anyone!

For example, our company does the event design; and when asked I have to be clear about what our services entail... its only fair.
