bumping in case any of the ‘night’ Bees may have some travel advice. There are lots of travel boards, but I just would love all I can get!

I know basically nothing about Thailand, but my FI and I are talking about going there for our honeymoon and will need to do a little research.
Not that this helps you, but at least your thread gets a bit of a bump.

My husband has been there. It is beautiful, but crazy touristy. He really recommends going farther off the beaten path to one of the other smaller islands. He island hopped around and thought the smaller islands that are a little harder to get to were more beautiful and peaceful. (he did 1 year of solo travel around the world before I met him).

Nai Harn is small, just a beach ans some stores, restaurants but the beach get crowded in the high season as well since. Just minutes to Kata and Karon, 20 minutes to Patong. Good choice and then you are close to Rawai for more restaurants which is not crowded as well.
If you want real calm and chill then check Nai Yang or Nai Thon very different from many other Phuket beaches http://thailandholiday.org.uk/guide/phuket/beaches/
Dont be scared of the tourists they are just as you. If you seek further than you just ruin what you are seeking, if you see what I mean 😉
Are you getting married there in April as well? In that case check http://djphuket.com, he also can help suggesing a resort. Dont know if I should say which one we choose or not. Anyway I did see a few and they were all good in different ways.
Have a good holiday.

When I was in Phuket, I never went to Nai Harm Beach. We stayed at Kata Beach, which is one of the busier beaches.. Me and my family stayed here and loved it:
Depends what you want. Kata/Karon beach is busier with some shopping and things to do. However, I found Phuket more expensive than the other parts of Thailand (Bangkok and Chiang Mai). To be honest it wasn’t my favorite spot compared to the other places because its so touristy.. Doesn’t give you the true flavor of Thailand.
However, I will warn you not to do the speedboat tour to the Phi Phi Islands. It’s one of the popular tours on Phuket but it’s so busy.. When you get to where “The Beach” was filmed, the beach is cluttered with tons of other speedboats and tourists. So it took the beauty away from it. That was our main excersion there, along with snorkeling.
I adored Thailand, I would definitely go back 🙂

@Oneeleven: I’ve been to Thailand twice. I don’t enjoy Patong, it is far too touristy and dirty. Kata is a little better, but still crowded. A little beach which I loved was a spot the locals call “paradise beach”. It’s small and quiet, with a great little restaurant that serves an amazing pad thai (yum). If you don’t enjoy animal cruelty I would avoid the Fantasea show and the elephant rides. If you are into diving, Similan has some amazing spots (though it is a bit far out).
