Since updating my LinkedIn account I’ve been getting emailed by recruiters. I got one today that I am interested in but I don’t have ALL the qualifications. Have you ever applied to a job that you didn’t have all the qualifications for but still ended up getting the job?

Absolutely! Especially if the recruiter is asking for a resume without asking you to pay them a fee up front.

What’s the worst that can happen? They don’t hire you. Which is the same situation you’re in now. Nothing to lose! Most job ads are for the “perfect” candidate, and it’s rare that they find someone with 100% of the qualifications, anyway!

@beachbride1216: Nope no fees. Thanks 🙂
@crayfish: Great point!… Thank you!

@MrsWe: No one has *all* the qualifications. As long as you have 80 percent of what’s being asked for, apply. Then rock the interview and prove you deserve it.
If a recruiter is asking, it’s a no brainer to send. They’ve already screen Linkedin (which is essentially a resume) and they are interested. This happens all the time (I get about 5 recruiter emails a week, but usually for stuff I don’t want).

@BoxerLady: LinkedIn in new to me I know I sound like I’ve been hiding under a rock lol. It’s not a no brainer to me because I had no clue recruiters would be contacting me without me initiating, the first one I got I sent it to my SO to ask him if it was legit , I thought it was a scam at first. Now that I’m actively looking I’ve realized alot has changed since I last interviewed which was over 5 years ago…

Yup! I apply for the job if it looks interesting and I meet some of the qualifications. What have you got to lose?
Besides, if a recruiter is reaching out to YOU they obviously feel you must be qualified. Go for it!
