Dear Bees!I feel like I’m being so stupid! I’m on birthcontrol pills yet I’m having so many pregnancy symptoms! I’ve been on the pill for 8 years (7 years on Microgynon 30 and 1 year on Cerazette). I started cerazette a year ago and have not suffered any symptoms (apart from no periods, which is great). Over the last 2 months my breasts have gone up 1-2 sizes, now a C (which is very strange as I’m normally small chested), I’m feeling sick on and off every day and have gained 7lbs. Could this just be an age thing (I’m coming up for 22 this year)? I’ve taken tests as many people keep asking me if I’m pregnant but they all come up negative. Any advice is appreciated!
Thanks for reading!
p.s. If I were pregnant (despite negative tests) I’d be either 2 1/2 months or 1 month

@LaraW: BCPs have made my breats grow A LOT and honestly, I hate it! I went from a B to a D! As far as the weight gain, have you been stressed? Eating more? Working out less? Anything that could affect that that much? I would go to your doctor and get a blood test…

It could be the birthcontrol. Your body could be reacting to the progestren in the pill. To be sure you could go get a blood test.

I have been very stressed (my FH was hit by a car back in December) however that normally results in losing weight, plus our situation is actually improving as my guy recovers. It could definitely be the pill, I’m just surprised that the changes are happening now, after nearly a year. Thanks for the responses so far bees!

I definitely think it’s hormonal and related to your pill. I had this happen to a friend. Definitely make an appt to go see your doc.

@LaraW: Birth Control (BC), Stress or Hormones are certainly 3 reasons this could be happening… and all 3 of them should be checked out with a Dr.
Lol, on the otherhand you could be having what is known as “sympathetic” pregnancy issues. I had this in my mid 20s when I was on BC… but had a whole slew of GFs who were preggers / getting pregnant. Had the whole works… morning sickness, wait gain, bloating etc. My periods went thru an eratic couple of months… (and they were always otherwise normal and like clock-work every 28 Days). Eventually things calmed down and returned as they’d always been.
Have also had other girlfriends who also went thru these symptoms in their lifetime as well… like when Sisters or BFFs got pregnant. Think of it this way, similar as to how women who are close or living in the same household, often end up with periods in sync. It just is what it is. Mother Nature is fascinating, and for all things believe or not there is not always a “scientific” explanation.

This just happened to me. I think I left my NuvaRing in too long and I was worried that the hormones were no longer protecting me. For a few weeks I seriously was feeling pregnancy symptoms so I took a test and it was negative. So for me, pretty sure it was psychological.

Happened to me too on a few occasions, but it was psychosomatic.

birth controls will make you gain weight. if you think you are 2 months along, it should show by then on a test. mine showed and i was only 1 or 2 weeks pregnant. make an appointment with your doctor.

This happened to me when I started cycling my birth control to make myself not have a period. I think it’s related to that! I swear by it!

You would most likely not be getting a negative pregnancy test if you were 2.5 months pregnant…. that just seems physically impossible.
BC pills have made almost every friend I know’s breasts grow. Mine went from a B to a D.
As far as gaining weight goes, when you hit 22-23, your metabolism just doesn’t work the way it used to. If you don’t work out, I would start hitting the gym or find a Zumba class, even if you never “needed” to before. Start looking at the things you’re eating too; you just can’t eat and drink the way you used to once you hit your 20s without it resulting in packing on the pounds.

I’ve been on the BC pill for 7 years and I’ve had pregnancy symptoms too. I was so paranoid and got negative tests. It turns out it was all just stress.

Yup, I was 3 weeks late with every symptom in the book last year and I tested negative.
