Today while at the mall a lady at the counter complimented me on my ring. It is the first time anyone has ever said anything about it so I was so grateful for that but when she started taking her fingers and rubbing them all over my center stone I was a little taken back. I came home and cleaned it immediately, lol…Anyone else ever have a strange experience like that?

Um, no. That sounds really odd of her to do

I don’t get why it’s weird… my ring is covered in my fingerprints, and I don’t think other people’s hands are dirty, or going to smudge it. They’re just people – sure, it was weird for her to grab at your ring, but her actual fingerprints aren’t dirty. There wasn’t much need to rush home and clean it… unless her hands were obviously dirty or something?

I think it was odd…I would never do that to someone’s ring. If they even had me touching it in the first place I would be very careful to not get fingers all over it…it seems like common sense to me to just be cautious about that.

@ZebraPrintMe: Her hands didnt look dirty but Im sure they were loaded with germs especially that she was handling cash. Also I have an emerald cut stone so any little smudge on it is noticible and dulls its sparkle. I usually wipe it with a dry cloth daily to get the smudges off.

Is it really that big a deal?

I mean it was a weird thing to do, but feeling the need to clean your ring is a little overdramatic. your hands were probably equally as dirty from just being out shopping. I’m sure that the ring would have gotten clean enough the next time you washed her hands.

Eh? What’s wrong? Did she have MRSA all over her fingers or something? lol

Definitely a bit strange! I can understand a friend or family member touching the ring, but why a stranger would feel the need to rub their fingers all over it is beyond me.

No, and that would be weird, but so easy to clean, so who cares, no?

@ashley99: I’m with you, that’s a weird thing to do. Wth?

That is strange. I only had a lady I work with, get up close to my hand and put her fingers on the band of my ring. My hand was on my desk and she just kind of leaned in. I scooted away quickly, because I found it awkward. lol

Maybe it is not a big deal to some but it was a big deal to me…I do not like people that I dont know touching me it just makes me feel uncomfortable. Also it is an expensive piece of jewelery and I dont like the fact of anyone i dont know puting there fingers anywhere on it. Also I do not wash my hands with my rings on so no it wouldnt have gotten washed when I washed my hands. I cannot believe I have to defend myself for a harmless post. I am staying off this website from now on it has gotten to mean. I didnt ask opinions if you thought it was wierd or strange I asked if anything similar had happened to you.

I could see how that would bother you. I would never put my hands on someone or their jewelry. It is kind of weird. Don’t feel bad about posting something like this because it was harmless.

I’d probably go wash my hands right after. I don’t like people in my personal space bubble, especially during flu season.
