Ok, let me calm down before I get into this. I'm really excited about the possibility that wedding dresses might start coming with pockets! I personally think this would be a great idea! Truly practical. A bride could store a few items in the dress to have them always handy.
My question is: Has anyone ever seen anyone wear a pocket wedding dress, and if so, did it look tacky?
I'm wondering if the pockets are discreet looking or stand out from the dress. Here are some examples if others are new to this fashion.
Thanks for the input!

I've never seen one in real life but I love the idea! Some of my favourite dresses has pockets. Depending on the cut of the dress and the figure of the person wearing it I think it could be really flattering!
Also, does Miss Scissors' dress have pockets? Or is that someone else I'm thinking off... hm.....
I loved the Priscilla of Boston Vineyard collection "Maeve" and it has pockets. I think it's a really cute style!
I think they're really cute on that type of dress with a bigger skirt, but I couldn't imagine them on a trumpet.
My wedding dress has pockets and I love them! At the fitting, I couldn't keep my hands out of them!
In all honesty, I went to a wedding this summer, wearing a dress with pockets and it was so nice having them. I kept a few ones for tips, my license, lipstick and my ATM card in my pockets. Not once did I have to worry about where my purse or clutch was and I never had to find my fiance to get my stuff out of his pockets. It just ended up being one less thing to think about.
I think it's the best new trend going. Also, unless the bride has her hands in the pockets, you can't tell they are there. So, you don't have to worry about pockets poking out while you are walking down the isle, but during the reception, they can be a nice thing to have.
I tried on Mikella style 1409, and it has pockets. It was super cute; the pockets were a nice touch, I thought. But I agree with some of the other posters that it probably only works for dresses with fuller skirts.
I looooooooooove pockets! I recently got a dress from J Crew that had pockets, I was so excited!
My dress doesn't have pockets but I really wish it did. I would love to have a dress with pockets. I also wore a dress with pockets to a wedding and I loved it. They were very handy and I was able to bring stuff without having to worry about carrying a handbag or clutch.
i once saw it on an episode of "say yes to the dress" and i thought the dress looked fantastic! i'm definately going to be looking for one when i get to pick out a dress because i can't even imagine not having my own little camera or chapstick with me, but i don't want to carry a purse...
Sure! I don't know if I'd use the pockets though. Knowing me, I'd stick the bouquet in my pocket because I got tired of holding it, but nothing else!
i tried a dress on that had a big skirt and discovered pockets... even the sales ladies didn't know they were there! i thought it was a fantastic idea, just sadly it wasn't the dress for me
Yes, my dress has pockets, which is awesome1 I'm super excited that I can carry some tissues (I'm a crier) or my lipstick/gloss without having to worry about where my clutch is all night!
And yes - I think it looks best in a dress with a full skirt - I have the "Serena" by Amsale, which was on say yes to the dress when the bride asked for pockets.
Thank you everyone for the opinions and advice! I'm totally in love with them!
My dress from davids bridal actually has pockets!! I looove it.
I have no idea what to put in them but its so much fun! :))
One of my fave J Crew gowns has pockets..

I think is TOTALLY AWESOME! and if the cut of my waist was a lil higher up I would def add some pockets so my wedding dress, that's why I added pockets to all my BM dresses :) Love it!
I tried on quite a few with them! I LOVED it!
I just loved a dress without them more :-) lol
POB has had them for a few collections... Maeve may have been the first I saw.
The pockets are pretty much hidden in the skirt so you can't see them. Imagine everything you could store and no purse!!! :) Very cool concept, just like the convertable gowns. Clearly, I'm a fan of practicality. :)
I saw a really cute one on "Say yes to the Dress".
Oh yeah, it's supposed to be one of the big bridal trends right now. Saw it in magazines and SYTTD. Randy mentioned it as one of the highlights from the latest runways shows he went to.
It's really not my thing, as I'm traditional and want my dress to be as non-casual as possible. So short dresses and pockets are out :) Probably would work better on a younger bride, I'm in my mid-30's and would feel silly in one.
I've seen the pocket dresses all over the place while I've been on the hunt for "the dress". They rock!
I saw a "Yes to the Dress" where the girl had no idea what she liked. She said that she liked pockets. They found her a beautiful dress with pockets. She was really happy!
The dress we're modeling my dress after had pockets! Love, love, love it! Mr. KM and I are chapstick fiends.
My dress has a pocket and my bridesmaid dresses have pockets. I had no idea it had one until the salesperson told me. It doesn't stand out, but it's a ballgown. I'm not sure if I'll actually put anything in it.
my dress from DB has pockets and I love them! it's an oleg cassini
Ha, I love that my dress is apparently famous as "the dress with pockets" from Say Yes to the Dress.
I've seen quite a few lately and I LOVE the idea!! My bridesmaids dresses have pockets in them ;]
I got married last April when pocket wedding dresses were first coming out and I got one. Mine was Sophie from the Vineyard collection at Priscilla of Boston and I LOVED it.
You can't tell that it has pockets unless you put your hands in it. The skirt was actually really full and sometimes I couldn't even find the pocket opening!
I ended up putting my cell phone (on silent of course) and my lipgloss (for touchups) in my pockets and you couldn't see that I had anything in them at all.
Yay pockets!!
I think that they are super cute and practical!! My first dress (I'm guilty of being a 2 dress bride) had pockets and they weren't noticable at all!
I love a dress with pockets. I completely forgot about it when I bought my dress. I don't think it's possible now since it has already been fitted.
Pockets in fancy dresses have been a really big trend for a few years now. My New Year's Eve dress had pockets and I loved being able to dance without even having to carry a clutch. I'm unsurprised they've showed up in wedding dresses, they're really helpful things.
I LOOOOOVE the newer designs that are out with pockets!!!! Its so unique and I would have totally gone with one had I not fallen in love with the more form fitting styles.
I agree with what most of the other bees are mentioning - it looks better on the fuller-skirt styles. I've seen them in real life and it wasn't tacky looking at all ... so different, young, modern, and cute!
Some of my bms will have pockets on their dresses.
