I woke up early this morning to go to the doctors. When I finally got home, I was tired again and so freezing cold. (NY weather sucks!) So I crawled back into bed with my book and snuggled up with my dog.

    3 hours passed...aparently I fell asleep.

When I woke up, I did the usual. Took the dog outside, checked the mail, went to take off my ring to put on lotion..... OMG!! my ring wasn't there!! It was there before I fell asleep and now it was just GONE!! How can that happen!??

I searched the house for an hour, ripping the bed apart, looking under the blankets. Finally I got a flashlight and looked under the bed. There it was, shinning back at me! Phew!!! I was so relieved! My ring is big to begin with and apparently it fell off while I was sleeping. It scared the crap outta me.

anyone else lose/misplace their ring before??

Nope can't say I have but that is a scary story - I would get it sized smaller if I were you - I would be sooo scared of losing it especially with with the cold whether approaching!

I did the same thing.  I never sleep with it, but I was staying at a hotel and didn't know where to put it so I left it on.  Found it under the bed.  Must have taken it off in my sleep.  I almost threw up.

I got my ring small enough that when it's hot it is tough to get it off so that when it's cold its only a little loose. Just because I am terrified of loosing it.

true story, i nearly threw my ring out the car window while driving thru the eastern distributor!!!!

i had a very BAD habit of twirling it around my finger (which i have since stopped for soon to be obvious reasons)... anyways one day we were driving thru (then FI driving) and i was twirling it and it came off my finger and bounced on the inside of the car door, near the open window

i was lucky... if it bounced one way it would have been out the window to be run over by thousands of cars... but it bounced back into the car and landed on the floor somewhere followed by my panic and i think i screamed... FI was not happy with me

i stopped twirling my ring after that

@eloping - OMG! That would have been so scary if it went out the window! Lucky it bounced back in. I couldn't imagine losing it outside or in public.

I've had my ring sized smaller once already, when I first got it. But I've been told that you shouldn't size your ring more than once or else it compromises the band. Is this true??? I've been scared to get it sized again b/c of this. Once I start working out and losing weight it's just going to looser.

Yikes! I don't have an e-ring yet but I did lose a promise ring an ex gave me once. I always used to take it off when I went ot bed and put it on my desk in my room. Well one morning I woke up and it was just gone. I searched everywhere. I tore the house apart. I took the couch apart. Seriously looked EVERYWHERE and tearfully had to tell the ex I'd lost it. A few weeks later my roommate asked if he could use my printer and then told me it wasn't working. He said he'd take it apart to see if he could fix it... my ring was inside of it! Apparently my cat batted it off my desk and INTO the printer, and it got jammed in there! yikes. haha.

I work in a hospital pharmacy, and I wore my ring to work one day since I wasn't expecting to work in the IV room or anything like that.  But then I had to deliver medications to the operating ward, and therefore I had to wear the hospital issued scrubs.  I slipped off my ring and put it into the front pocket of my scrubs so I wouldn't contaminate anything in the OR rooms.  Every time I left a room, I double-checked my pocket to make sure the ring was still there.  Well, after 7 rooms, I ran into a co-worker and started chatting.  I quickly changed out of my scrubs and threw them in the soiled linens baskets.  I was back in the pharmacy for 15 minutes, and I went to twirl my ring...and almost screamed!  It was gone!  I completely interrupted my co-worker and ran to the OR.  I threw back the lid of the soiled linens bin, and luckily, there was my ring staring up at me!  :)  Thank goodness no one was in the OR that night!

I haven't lost mine, but have NO idea what I would do if I did.

@eloping:  I think I would have cried if that happened to me.  You're SO lucky!!

I do this all the time. After a long night out, I will just put my ring/jewelry on my desk before I go to bed. And EVERY morning I wake up and search for them! You would think that I would have learned by now!

Mine (from a previous relationship) fell off once without my noticing (crazy as it was a thick 4mm band).  I tore my parents house apart for hours looking for it.  My dad finally found it in....the kitchen trash can.  Must have slid off when I threw something away.  In my case, I guess it was an omen that it wasn't meant to be ;)  Current rings are on the loose side, but never go past the knuckle.  Glad you found yours safe and sound!
