When you're waiting.. it seems like everyone else is getting engaged but you? I'm confortable with waiting and I know its coming eventually but man atleast 7 of my friends have gotten engaged in the past two months... bahhhhh (Sorry just needed to vent).

Oooohh yes. Since I've been with my guy tons of people have gotten engaged and married (most of whom have been dating far less than we have). I tried counting once but I got depressed after 10. :\

And as evidence that I'm a terrible person I even get thoughts like: "They better not get engaged before I do!" I know a few couples that seem like they're getting there--and yes they've all been dating less than we have...

I feel the same way. It got to the point where with each and every status or relationship update on Facebook I got more bitter and more resentful. It took a lot out of me and really effected my relationship. One day I just gave him photos of exactly what I want my ring to look like, my ring size, requested that it be made to fit a plain gold band next to it perfectly, asked him to not make me wait forever, and I let it go. I still get anxiety but now I just look at my future ring (pictures on my BlackBerry) and remind myself that it'll happen soon. It's hard, but it will be worth it.

2 yrs (and 2 boyfriends) ago, BOTH of my roommates got engaged within 3 wks of each other, and then bf at the time's neightbor got engaged 2 wks after that.  I mentioned it to my boss one morning, and all he could say was "Man, I'd hate to be your boyfriend right about now...".

Yes, I definitely think engagements come in waves=)

I'm right there with all of you!  So many of my friends have gotten engaged lately...one even last week.  It gets so depressing after a while.  The only thing I have going is the BF and have been looking at rings and I found a beautiful one!  Sadly he was laid off work and we are both poor. :(

I am really trying not to say anything to my SO and just keep it to myself (and vent on here lol).. but it is very frustrating. I'm sure though when my time comes it will be frustrating for someone else so I just keep that in mind.

I feel the same way!! I was JUST talking to my SO about this.  A girl we work with, who I'm friends with, has had ups and downs with her man. They have been together a year less than us. For a while he was pressuring her about marriage and as of a month ago she wasn't ready. Now all the sudden she is and I can't help thinking "please don't get engaged before me". I know I shouldn't think it, but I do. I even told my SO that.  He said he knows that I wish I didn't think it but that since I did, he was trying his best not to let them beat him to it.  He's a good guy :)
