I thought this article was really interesting:

    Going Dutch

Ever wish you could work less?  Or, are you more interested in gunning to the top of the corporate ladder?

I vote for gunning to the top of the corporate ladder or at least make more money.

if i didn't have to pay a mortgage, i'd work WAY less. i used to think i'd care about rising to the top, but i realized i don't. i just want to raise a family!  these dutch women have it right.

I really excelled at my career years ago to the detriment of my family.  If I could go back and have a do over I would.  Now I choose to work less and spend quality time more.  I am going back into my field, but the name I made for myself will allow me to pick and choose the projects I work on.  I can honestly say, I wouldn't give up the time I spend with the FH and the kids for anything/any amout of money in the world.

I have no interest in being at the top of my industry. I know what kind of life comes along with that and I'm not interested. I work to live, I don't and never will live to work. I've actually discussed w/ FI and if we got to a point where we would be financially ok with me working part time, I would TOTALLY do it.

I just want to be able to live comfortably and have enough for retirement.

My fiance and I bought our house based on 1 of our salaries, we didn't want to be a slave to it, and we wanted to be able to still pay our bills if one of us would get laid off or if I take a couple years off when we have a baby.

My philosophy: I work to live, not live to work.

*Ever* wish I could work less? Try always. :)

Unfortunately I didn't always feel that way and got a very expensive degree that I now have to pay for. I'll be "working my way up the ladder" until that monkey is off my back.

I am currently working 32 hours per week.  Enough for full time benefits and perks.....  I love working less. I feel a little more sane and grounded.  I'm really just a home body and enjoy so much being a wife.  Tomorrow I want to make ham and bean and veg soup...... I ended up buying an entire ham just so I could have the bone.  I love my three day weekends..........

    LOL, same as @spaniel, ALWAYS!

I have no interest in climbing the corporate ladder. I've even passed up opportunities in the past for promotions because I don't want the headaches that come with more responsibility and managing more people. I make decent money and don't want to give up my life to make more.

Yep, always.  I'd love to have more time to work out, or just do things that are more fun than going to work.
