Yeah my husband and I are guilty of that a bit. We didn't go completely crazy but I felt weird just doing a tight lipped peck.
I agree, I definitely want more than a peck - maybe like a lingering full-lip smooch with a dip or something - but this went on for a solid 15 or 20 seconds, I feel like if I had been a guest I would have felt uncomfortable ... I dunno, I'm kinda grossed out by public making out in general though, so who knows ...
Hmm... yeah, I think it's a tad awkward when they are full on making out.... buuuut... at the same time, when it's just a little peck, I think "aww... come ON!! It's your WEDDING!"
There's gotta be a happy medium between the two, IMO. :)
We had people giggling because we took too long kissing. Kind of funny after the fact!
Bahaha A month ago, I told my FI that we needed to perfect our wedding kiss so it was a happy medium between making out and tight lipped. I think we've figured it out, but I'm sure I'll be so nervous on my wedding day I'll smash into his face and give myself a fat lip or something...
@ corgitales, i LOVE the wedding singer :). I agree, chuch toungue is the way to go!
OMG. I LOVE that movie! I was going to say "church toungue" too. Hehe.
LMAO! Yeah, when I read the OP I definitely thought of the Wedding Singer. My hubby and I practiced ours, because we didn't want a peck, but we didn't want nasty, either. It is a church, after all, and I will have to see the guests frequently, so I didn't want to gross any of them out. Hehe! :)
I am totally amazed that it took until post 7 to get a wedding singer reference! Ha! Funny.
better to long than too short! knowing my man, he'll pick me up and carry me out of the room. i'll have to tell him not to do that! i can just see it now: him stepping on my train, dress ripping to shreds, head cracking open...not good!
i have to admit that i've been to a few weddings where the kiss was plain uncomfortable to watch!! ew! but FI and i def aren't into PDAs and are quite shy in that regard but i'm hoping its a nice, sweet, kinda short, church-appropriate kiss.
we always kiss at mass when we offer our "sign of peace", so i'm hoping a cross between that and alittle more wedding-y. ha!
I like the "happy kiss" where you can kind of see the couple smiling like crazy as they kiss and its sweet and not pre sex and not hi mom.
We had a three or four second kiss..a little longer than a peck, but not much more. I personally don't think much more than that is appropriate..but just my opinion. Everybody is different...and I don't care what others do-I just wanted to make sure our kiss wasn't too much for my comfort level...
@Quirky Ours was a "smiling" kiss..we were both grinning ear to ear while kissing... :)
I swoon for kisses where the husband takes a hold of the woman's face and kisses her passionately. Miss Nacho has an example of this!
@alivoo01 -- I adore being kissed like that, and BF knows that, so that'll probably be ours! That mixed with quirkyparsnip's "happy kiss"... hehe... *swoon*
I was in one wedding where the couple's kiss was just very awkward. It wasn't their first... but they couldn't figure out how/where they wanted their arms to be... so it looked like it was haha... it was funny, but also really awkward. Practicepracticepractice!! ;)
ew. I don't want to think about the first kiss- it makes me nervous.
We didn't talk about it or practice it. He actually grabbed my face and gave me a nice long smooch. Which I think I was smiling ear to ear! The thing that was awkward to me was going up to our hotel room afterwards with everyone knowing that's where and what was going on. Felt funny the next morning at brunch with everyone around giving us hugs etc.
Ew, you could see the tongues AND jaw moving? Intense.
I was at a wedding a friend of mine shot and the bride had tequila shots before hand and they were macking at the alter. Yetch.
awwww i think its representive of the couple. so long as the Groom isnt pulling out the Bride's boob in front of everyone, I say have at it with each others' faces for a few seconds! ;) hehe.
vintage2010, omg you are making me freak out right now...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I guess Brunch the morning after is going to bit a bit....awkward!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Oh man...I never thought about this. But now I know I want him to dip me! hahaha Thanks to the PP who suggested that!
@soon2BMrs- I'm sorry to freak ya out. I had that thought for just a split second and then was fine once people started talking about how much they enjoyed the wedding.

I am watching MTV true life (I know, I know ... but it was about weddings!) and this one couple full-on MADE OUT as their first kiss - like you could see their tongues and jaws moving up and down ... GROSS!! I mean, I thought it was gross - I've always seen first kisses that were closed-mouth and a little more, uh, less PDA. What do you guys think? Am I being uptight?
