I’m DIYing my pocketfolds, and it’s definitely the most time-consuming of all my wedding projects. I had my mom and my sister helping me a few weekends ago. I scored them where they needed to be folded because that was a more painstaking job, and they folded them.
I just went to start adding the pocket onto them and every third one or so isn’t even folded on the line…thus making my pocket not fit. And when I refold them the old crease ends up on the front so I’m ruining them.
UGH this is exactlly why I was going to just do these by myself, but they offered to help so I wasn’t about to turn it down… but now I’m so mad at myself!
My sister did a good job, it’s my mom’s that were rough. So I might actually need to buy more paper because I’ve so far had to throw out 10 and I’ve only completed about 25.
GRRRRR just had to vent!

That’s why I’m a control freak! I’m going to let people help me, of course, but when it comes to other stuff I’m doing it all myself. I like things verrrry specific and I’m picky when it comes to crafts. This is my wedding, one shot at it.
That sucks about your invites. Are they that bad where you can’t use that piece anymore?

@Lauren10.8.11: Yeah…some of them are only slightly off so I can save them but there are quite a few that the fold line is literally an INCH off!! Maybe my mom needs new glasses…. 🙂

Eep. From one perfectionist to another, I feel your pain. Glad all the ones your sis did were okay, though.

@Wannabe-diy-bride: Dang well I’m sorry to hear that. That’s quite the miss there. Good luck with the rest of the invites.

ugh, yeah, that’s why I’m doing it myself and why my FI gives me a weird look when I threaten to make him help! LOL! Fortunately, he’s also helpful and willing to help when I ask for it and will fetch what I ask, including drinks and food!
sorry you gotta deal with this. 🙁 it really sucks!

I rememeber putting jordan almond favors together for my brother’s wedding while most of the party just hung out and had fun. It was me and the old ladies in the kitchen working on them the night before the wedding.
I swore I’d never make my family or wedding party finish my DIYs. Either I get it done or it doesn’t happen. I know many people think bridesmaids are there to do projects, but I hate the idea of pressing them into labor. Buying the dress and the shoes and all that is enough!

I am so anal when it comes to this stuff! My FI said he could put the stamps on our STDs and I said no. Wanted them lined up perfectly. We just got an invite with the stamp upside down on the RSVP and we laughed that he would of done the STDs just like that!! hahaha
And FYI found out her 9 year old niece did the stamps and ended up putting half of the 64 cent stamps on the RSVP envelope too. Ouch!

So I finally finished them all and ended up having to chuck 44 of them because they look ridiculous if I try to save it. I luckily have extra paper left over but I was planning to use it for something else. I figured there would be a couple of mistakes but not 44!!!! GRRRRRRRR

@Wannabe-diy-bride: I feel your pain…. I knew that I had 1 BM and my mom that I just couldn’t ask to help with any craft stuff…. They made phone calls and scheduled things. lol

Poor little wasted trees =( Sorry you had such a bummer of a time >.<

I’m right there with ya. I know the invites will take me forever, but noooooooooo one else is touching them because it would just cause tension/aggrivation. I am just gonna start the process way ahead of schedule

Yesterday I just finished cutting, scoring, folding, assembling, and embelishing my last (of 85) pocketfolds. People offered to help, and I told them they could help with project _____________. These have to be SO precise, I just didn’t trust anyone else to go near them.
And, now I’m glad I get to say that I cut, scored, folded, assembled, and embelished all 85 of our pocketfolds on my own.

I totally get it. My livingroom is littered with DIY projects and all my friends keep asking if they can just take a project home and work on it themselves and bring it back to me when they are done. Are you kidding me??? I need everything done a certain way and also, you have to be quite crafty to do a lot of the crafts Im doing. Just the idea of someone putting my invites together gives me chills. There is also a certain satisfaction that comes from doing something great all on your own.

I agree with many of you, I did all my DIY projects myself! I had very minimal help because as controlling as I am, its just best I work alone lol I had projects all over the place and DH did help me with some of them because it was a bit too much at time. But at the end of the day, it’s just better to do it all yourself. No one will care as much as you do!
