Has anyone stayed at either of these AI resorts in Mexico? Both are pretty close in price and have a lot of the features we’re looking for. Just wondering if anyone here can weigh in and help with our decision.

@Carladore: I’ve been to neither but we just came back from our honeymoon in Mexico and stayed at Le Blanc Spa & Resort in Cancun and absolutely LOVED it. It was amazzzinnngggg! Now we understand why it’s rated in the top 10 best all-inclusive resorts in the world. The food is delicious, the rooms gorg and the staff/butlers bend over backwards for you. I’ve never felt so spoiled/pampered before. I’m not one to steer someone away from what they’re looking into BUT this place is too great to not recommend. Good luck!

I’ve stayed at The Royal Playa del Carmen about a month ago actually. It was amazing! my husband and I were treated like queen/king. We have never been to an all inclusive before so I have nothing to compare it to. The only thing I didn’t care for was the bed. Everything is walking distance too. shopping at 5th avenue and if you want to go out theres coco bongo in walking distance. The staff there were very friendly and theres plenty of choices for food. Good luck!

We are staying at the Excellence Playa Mujeres in a two story suite with private pool. I researched for months and it is amazing! Perfect reviews and looks beautiful. I am so excited, it’s exactly what we wanted!

I was torn between both of these hotels and Secrets Maroma for our honeymoon. We ended up going with Secrets because the reviews are amazing and it looks so romantic!

we are staying at the royal playa del carmen! its amazing all inclusive, adults only resort! there are like 15 bars, 7 restaurants and you can go to the bars at their adjacent resort too which is another 7!! they have amazing reviews i would definitely recommend it!!

We seriously considered Excellence Playa Mujeres but in the end we decided on Sandals Whitehouse instead. We are sooo glad we did too! Sandals was amazing. In the end the small price difference for sandals paled in comparison to all the added costs like transportation and tipping you have to do at excellence. We could have gotten a nicer room at excellence but we thought sandals had a nicer resort for what we were looking for. but our sandals room was still very nice and we spent very little time in the room anyway.

I’ve stayed at another Excellence property nearby – The Excellence Riveria Cancun and LOVED it. So if the Playa Mujeres location is anything like that (And I’ve read reviews for both, so it seems to be!) it should be fabulous!

We stayed at the Royal in Playa del Carmen for a company trip and we really enjoyed it! The rooms were really nice and the close location to shopping/other restaurants was quite nice. They show those beach “cabanas” in pictures, but it’s worth noting that they are reserved for certain (more expensive) rooms. I would recommend it!

we stayed at The Royal and it was FANTASTIC. food was delicious and if you have the opportunity to eat at the “fancy” restaurant (that is included with the upgraded rooms, additional cost if not in the upgraded rooms) do it! SUCH delicious food!
I also loved that it was close to town so we didnt have to shuttle to the shops, restaurants, etc.
highly recommend the ROYAL. also make sure you mention its for a honeymoon– they treat you EVEN more like royalty (if its possible)
mango tango & superman frozen drinks are the best!
