So after a long, aggravating, struggle of “When should we get married” we are looking at June 26th, 2010 and I should sign a contract tomorrow with our venue! We finally decided to just put a honeymoon right after the wedding on the backburner because we weren’t sure when my fiance’s post will be having summer leave (he is normally stationed at Ft. Richardson) so he is just going to ask for leave for the wedding which more than likely he will only be granted 4 days.
Now my only hope is for his deployment to please please please not get extended and him come home around March-ish.
So here I am with my fingers crossed that both the venue and the U.S. Army work with me.

Woot! Contgrats! I will keep my fingers crossed about his deployment. I kinda understand, my FBIL is deployed and *might* make it back for the wedding..keeping our hopes up on that one! And we are putting out honeymoon off too, so I can relate there as well… isnt a busy life with no time off grand..lol

So exciting! I hope his deployment doesn’t get extended too. I’d rather no one’s deployment get extended actually. June is right around the corner- I can’t believe it! I’m a June bride too but we’ve been planning since December and the time flies just like everyone said it would, have fun planning!

If he gets traditional block leave around July 4, you could just schedule a honeymoon through an agent (we got insurance on ours with a company that worked with military couples–travelocity is a no-no but private companies will postpone your HM if say his orders get taken back). We got married June 20 and went on our hm from june 22-28 and he had off until July 5. Everyone is off the base for the holiday at that time, too!
But, when he gets home from Iraq, they usually get 30 days where they all take leave!

So the wedding director at the venue has been out of town since Saturday and won’t get back until tomorrow so I have to wait until then. Lol I am like “noooo, what if someone takes that date?”
ejs: Great idea, I didn’t even think about getting insurance on the honeymoon. The reason we didn’t pick a date that should fall within his 30 day leave after he gets back from Afghan land is because we were scared he might get delayed, because they were told not to be suprised if they got extended (but this was before the whole Obama changing the stoploss thing) and he isn’t sure how many days he has built up. Soooo our big hope is for them to give him the days off, then it run into their summer block leave. But then again, he said something about them not getting block summer leave if they had just gotten their 30 days after getting home? So I don’t know it’s so confusing haha.
