I'm interested in visiting CSB. I have heard all the great prices about this place. However I'm only 5 feet even. I dont like high heels so the most would be like 5' 2"

Do they have dresses that a short enough or did you have to get them altered.

Bees have you had luck finding a dress that was the right length at CSB?

What designers have shorter lengths? I know Maggie does, are there others?

Most of the designers do make petites, one of the bridal consultants told me to make sure that they verify all the measurement with the designers petite measurements.  The waist of a 6p most of the time is an inch smaller than a 6r.  Just something to talk to them about when ordering.

@tksjewelry: If by CSB she means Church Street Bridal, do they even allow ordering options? I thought they only have whatever is donated to them, and you just have to hope they have something in your size. Is that not how it is?

@Ms.BlueEyesDC: I imagine since CSB sells a lot of samples, there won't be many, if at all, for us vertically challenged.  Chances are you'll have to get it hemmed, so you'll have to pick your dress carefully, esp if your a lace fan.

I know Casablanca sells petites too.

@tksjewelry: HAHA I just googled it out of curiosity! Let's hope she isn't getting her dress from the Chemical Safety Board. It wouldn't be fashionable, but she could investigate chemical accidents in it! Tee hee sorry for the slight derailment, OP.

@Ms.BlueEyesDC: Maybe call and find out if they have any petites in right now? I would swing by myself if I was closer, but my closest family member to there (aka free place to stay!) is ~4 hours away. Not sure it'd be worth it, as I'm also petite and I kind of doubt the selection for our size is really good. Maybe you'll find something you love that'll be easy to alter! Good luck.

I'm a Church Street Bridal Bride!  I'm 5'2.  They only sell samples so I think the overwhelming majority of brides would have to do SOME type of alterations.  I wasn't looking for petites in particular but I think if you want to find a dress you won't have to hem that will be a challenge.  Is there a reason you don't want to hem it?

@Ms.BlueEyesDC: Go even if they don't have petite.  I am 5'1" and my dress wasn't petite, I just had to have it hemmed.  As long as there is not a whole bunch of complicated lace on the bottom a hem is nothing and needs to be done on most dresses anyways.  You never know, you might find the couture gem that you have been dreaming of.

@NJmeetsBX: I'm ok with hemming but not if its something drastic that would change the look of the dress. Was your size a petite or you just hemmed your dress? BTW it looks beautiful on you.

Thank you!  No, it is not petite.  It's a size 20 I think and I think I'm a bridal 14 or 16 so I have a lot of alterations to do but it's not changing the look of the dress at all.  Are you in the DC area?  If so I know a fantastic seamstress that works out of her home and caps her alterations at $200.

What silhouette are you looking for?

@NJmeetsBX: I'm looking for mermaid or trumpet to show off the new body now that ive lost 35lbs.  I do live in the DC area. Any recommendations would be appreciated for a seamstress, since all the weddings ive attended and helped with have been out of state.

@Ms.BlueEyesDC: Congrats on the weight loss!  My dress is a mermaid.  I will PM you her info.  She will be able to make any alterations if you find a dress at CSB (or anywhere).  Don't worry about it, the style won't change if you hem it.  She's fantastic and is used to working with sample dresses.  I think it's totally worth the trip.  Good luck and post if you find a dress when you go!
