We didn't have a very good rate pf people responding online or to the phone number. Although of the people that showed up, they ised one of the options, the others were no responders/no shows.
I am currently in the middle of recieveing my online RSVPs, the first week was the slowest, nobody RSVPd (and when I say first week, I mean a week after everyone recieved the invitation!) The second was better, and the third week (this week) is even better. They are still slowely coming in but we still have lots of people that havn't RSVPd, but they have until the 20th of Sept and I think most people like to wait till the last minute, even though its online :)
Ok, good to know! I was just thinking that if it were me, I'd see it in the mail, and hop right on my computer to get it done and then recycle the invite, haha.
no matter how the RSVPs are done, not that many people will RSVP in the first couple of days! We had maybe 1-3 a day for the first 3 weeks, and than maybe one a day or every other day until the date. i had about 25 RSVPs i still needed by the due date. I would not be cconcerned...for the most part it is much easier to RSVP online--I am sure its not your method that's causing the 'delay'. it's normal!
I don't think what you're experiencing is exclusive to having online RSVP. I have online RSVP and I had no qualms bugging family members to RSVP super early just by word of mouth and email. All of them did it well before the deadline. Either they responded themselves online or they tell me via email.
I would say at least 60-70% of my friends responded online and on time. As for the remaining, all I had to do is to send them an email reminder and within an hour or two, boom, rsvp received. So it wasn't a big deal. There are always some stragglers but I just let them be since it's still a couple of weeks until my drop dead deadline imposed by my venue.
I recently got an invitation to a wedding that had an RSVP card and NO RETURN STAMP (so rude!), then I saw there was an option to RSVP online! Great, I thought! So I go online and try to RSVP "No", because I couldn't make it. Well there was no option for "No"! Just a box with "Type your name here" and a button to click "RSVP". It was very frustrating.
@texaslawgirl: was that website weddingwire?
I am actually having my guests RSVP through our weddingwire site, you enter your name, it pops up and then you click "RSVP" but after you click RSVP it then takes you to the next page were you can select "accepts" or "declines" I hope the first page isn't decieving then it says "click to RSVP" before the accepts or decline page pops up, oh no!!! I'm freaking out!!!
@annie, I have no idea! I never considered that option. I just thought that there was only the option of RSVPing (meaning if you clicked RSVP, then it meant "yes" you were coming). I was afraid to click it because I didn't want to click "Yes" when I was trying to tell them we couldn't make it.
@texas: Yep sounds like wedding wire! I went back to the website, and I can totally see how after you enter your name it just says " Click here to RSVP" which IS deceiving esp if you are declining, ARGG I didn't realize that before!!! I just added a note at the top of the page explaining to guests that can't attend, the process of what to do. I'm so glad I read your post, because hopefully my instructions will help make everything clear to our guests!
I wonder how common is the perception that "respond s'il vous plait" means that you're responding to attending the event. I thought it's always been just simply "respond".
I just looked up the wedding website, and it's through The Knot........

Anybody out there have experiences to share about their online RSVPs? We included a card in our invites with directions on how to RSVP on our website, but also a phone number in case it was too confusing for someone. All of our friends can obviously handle this, my whole family is more than comfortable, and my FI's is mostly competent with the internet too so we figured it was a safe option.
But they've been so slow to RSVP and I'm starting to regret it a little! Everyone's invitations would have arrived Fri/Sat of last week but we've only had a few people RSVP. I'm starting to think tha tmaybe I gave people too much credit and they'll all forget to do it :) I know people can be lazy about dropping cards in the mail too, so maybe we're just going par for the course at this rate.
So if anybody used an online RSVP system you should let me know how it went as far as people responding!
