Is there anyone on here who’s made and used padsicles for the post partum period? Did you find they helped you? What recipe did you use?
I’ve found 3 basic recipes so far:
- Just witch hazel on the pads.
- Witch hazel and aloe vera gel both on the pads.
- A sitz bath solution on the pads.

I used the premade, circular, witch hazel soaked pads that looked like the kind you’d wash your face with and folded them in half. I definitely found relief from them and imagine that adding aloe would only help more. Sitz baths were also a huge relief, but I didn’t try using a bath solution on the pad.

@ScottishMrs: I used witch hazel on frozen pads. They felt great for the first 5 minutes. Then they kinda melted and I felt like I was sitting on a very damp pad that didn’t really offer much relief and got gross really fast when mixed with what was coming out of me. I’m not sure they felt much better than a water frozen pad would have felt.

I did the witch hazel and aloe gel. I agree with the previous poster: they were very soothing for the first 5 or 10 minutes. Then they got melty and gross.
