My maids are all on a tight budget: my moh is unable to work until this winter (if that), my sister has 4 kids and all sorts of bills, and his sisters are still in their teens so his mom will be paying for both of their dresses. All of my girls have extremely different body types: short, tall, petite, curvy, shapeless (shes 13) I have looked at Target’s bridesmaid line and for $70 I really like the selection offered…BUT what is the quality like? Are they cheaply made? Do they fit well?
Anyone with experience…HELP!

have you thought about renting the dresses? http://rentthedress.com/index.php has some lovely ones for $35.

I ordered a dress from their BM selection to wear as a dress to a fancier occassion. I was really unhappy with how it looked 🙁 The chiffon dress had a rougher texture than other chiffons, and honestly, had a bit of a taffeta shimmer to it. Overall, it felt and I thought looked cheaply made.
Honestly, I would try David’s Bridal – sales/clearance rack. MY FAVORITE BM dress I ever wore was from there, and was $120, but it fit like a glove, and needed zero alterations.
I know that is on the higher end of a potential price range, but again, we did not order from a sale item either!! Good luck!

@cmoore793: I would try bridal store sales, especially now around prom. THe place I got my BM dresses is running a sale of $10 off the rack dresses to get the old season out. You may get a few nice matching dresses.
I personally have never like the quality at Target. However H&M is very cute and inexpensive, and I love their clothes

I didn’t get them for my girls but when i was in Target, someone in front of me was returning a bridesmaid dress from online (she must have bought a whole bunch in different sizes, so I grabbed it to see the quality because i’m nosey! I was really really surprised at the good quality of it. If I recall, it was in their satin material. The dress had boning, two layers of fabric, and the color (green) was really nice. I don’t know about other fabrics, but I would not be opposed to my girls wearing the dress. All bridesmaid dresses look alike, so why not go for Target! You could always return!

@OUgal0004: my dress is taffeta so I don’t want them to look similar. I read the reviews on the website and they were all either one end of the spectrum or the other…but now it’s starting to look like there are more bad than good :l boo!
I’ve tried searching for deals at DB but I’m not really interested in doing business with them. I’ve heard nothing but terrible things (from family/friends/online reviews) about their service and the price is a bit high. We’re trying to keep dress and shoes under $150 (I don’t know what we’re going to do about hair and makeup)

@MizzStark1026: do you know anything about their return poilcy? Like…is it different for the dresses? I wouldn’t want to make them all pay shipping and then be only partially refunded.

My friends neice had them for her BM’s and I think they looked great. For one day? I’d go and try some on.

@cmoore793: I wish I knew. I imagine it’s normal store return policy, unworn with tags and receipt within some sort of time limit.

@ItWasntMe: those are gorgeous! I don’t think the white is my thing…but they look great! thanks!

Almost every time I am in Target, I run across a few BM dresses on the clearance racks from returns. Maybe you could check your local store and see if you run across any?

What about a dress in their price range that isn’t from a bridal store? I’ve seen plenty of dresses at places like JCPenney or Kohls that would make great BM dresses and for under $70. Or even Charlotte Russe or Forever 21 have simple dresses that could pass for BM dresses and are very affordable. Even higher end department stores have clearance sales- I almost bought my girls a dress from Nordstrom (they have an actual BM selection) for around $100 that was originally $200. Let us know what you guys go with!

http://www.tbdress.com is where we will be getting our dresses, you can search by price and style. look at bridesmaid dresses and prom/party dresses. im sure you can find something you like in there.

I think for $70, you could find something that will ultimately be a higher quality dress than you’re going to get at Target.
What style or colors are you looking for? I’ve been happy with nearly everything I’ve purchased from Coldwater Creek, and there are some dresses on sale now that I think could make very passable bridesmaid dresses.
ETA: They often run major sales, so you could get on their mailing list and see what deals you could pick up, if any of these suit you.
