- Wedding: May 2013
I purchased my dress in early April 2012 from the Wedding Atelier for my wedding in May 2013. When I purchased my dress, I hadn’t actually planned on buying yet– was just trying on to get ideas, but I obviously wound up buying. At the time, the sales person told me that the dress would probably come in around October, but possibly earlier. I signed the contract and paid in full. In August, I went back to try on acccessories, and I asked about the status of the dress. They told me it wasn’t coming in until March 26, 2013– exactly 2 months before my wedding, and almost a full YEAR after I bought the dress. They did not offer any explanation, except that the receipt said the expected delivery date was the 2 months before. Somehow I had missed that when I signed the receipt, but I would not have bought the dress had I known. They also told me that it normally takes 6-9 months for a dress to come in, but had no reason why mine would take 12 months.
I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience with WA. They say you’re supposed to start alterations 2 months before your wedding, but that you should already have accessories, shoes, undergarments, etc. They also no longer have the sample of my dress in store, so I don’t have any sense for what undergarments I need–I thought I’d be able to try on my dress before my first fitting and figure out what I needed, but it doesn’t seem like there’ll be time for that.
Part of me is wondering/hoping that they just say the expected delivery date is exactly 2 months before the wedding for everyone, just to set low expectations, and that the dress will come in sooner.
Anyway, sorry this is so long, but any info would be much appreciated.
