I am just looking for anyone’s experience with having a D&C. I finally have a potential answer to my 13 months TTC issue. My uterus does not just have one polyp, but it is basically filled with them. So I have to have a D&C and I’m just looking for things like, did you have to take more than one day off work? How long after it did you get your period back? How long after were you cleared to TTC again?
Thanks so much, everyone!!

zoey0317 : I had to have a D&C done in November due to a missed miscarriage. I had the procedure done on a Thursday and I took the following day off as a precaution. I overall felt fine so I could’ve gone into work the next day but since I already requested off I stayed home. I started bleeding 2 days after the procedure which lasted 6 days. My first post period came 40 days after the procedure. My drs office said we could start TTC right away if we wished but highly suggested waiting one full cycle for dating purposes.

zoey0317 : I had a D&C in April along with a LLETZ procedure to remove precancerous cervical cells. I had the procedure on a Friday as recommended by the doctor so I could have Saturday and Sunday to rest and returned to work on Monday.
I was bleeding for 4-5 weeks but that was due to the LLETZ more so than the D&C. Got my period as per usual three weeks after the procedure. I was not cleared to TTC only because I need to wait until my 6 month checkup to see if the precancerous lesions have returned (if they have I’ll need another procedure).

I had a D&C for a missed MC last August- I had very little pain and could have gone to work the next day. It took a bit longer for my period to come because I have irregular cycles as is, but I also had to wait for my HCG levels to drop. We waited two cycles to TTC because we were using clomid and it can thin your uterine lining. We got pregnant that first cycle back and our daughter will be here any day! Best of luck.

I had a d&c due to a miscarriage. Procedure took about 20 min, i took about an hour to recover from being put under, then we went home. I didn’t even have to get someone to let out my dogs. i did not have any pain afterward, and just a little bit of spotting. i took the following day off work only because i had time off available and i was sad about losing the baby, not because i was unable to work. i got my period again 4 weeks later (as if D&C was cycle day 1), and conceived my daughter 2 weeks following my period. Not everyone has a good of an experience as that I’m sure, but I was glad that everything went smoothly.

I’m sorry to all 4 of you ladies for your losses!! I hope that all of you have either gotten or are in the process of getting your rainbow babies! *hugs*
I appreciate all of your responses and it sounds like there is some good news and hope in all of your stories!
Sorry I’m not responding individually, for some reason this site is being really weird on my phone lately and it either won’t let me respond at all, or I have to jump through hoops to do so, so I’m just doing one reply!
