lol....thats funny to say that about the gnome...I think we get how cute it is because we have seen the cute pics Mrs. French BullDog has posted...but to an outsider I can see how weird that can be! I talk to my fiance about weddingbee all the time even if he doesnt get it!
LOL, I was so disappointed trying to explain my excitement over being becoming a Bee to "non-believers". Even my mom gave the "Oh. well. that's interesting...wait, you're doing what? Is it like Facebook?" Hahahahhaa.
Luckily a few of my bridesmaids and good friend "got it".
I don't think people I tell get it, either. When I tell someone I blog for a wedding website with several other brides, they think I'm crazy or something. I'm pretty sure no one from my family even read my posts after my first week of being a bee. They also think I'm crazy for taking pictures of everything wedding-related I've done. I gave up on telling them it's for the blog and just tell them it's for the scrapbook. That seems a little more acceptable to them. :-)
My friend and I read religiously at work and well say "oh Mrs soandso did this" and our boss (who sits right next to us) always goes "WHO?" and looks at us like we are crazy. She does understand it though :)
My husband knows all about Weddingbee, and is glad it helped me with our wedding, but he doesn't understand my obsession, or why I still love it and can't leave!
It's much easier to talk to brides about it, so I stick to past and future brides when talking about, and try to explain the concept without seeming obsessed so I don't dissuade people from being a part of the site.
Really, I think Weddingbee speaks for itself if anyone gives it even a little chance...but don't feel bad about family or friends not understanding....at least we do! :-)
Everyone I know thinks I'm "too into my wedding" because I read wedding blogs! My family says that I'm too wedding obsessed- as evidenced by my reading stuff about weddings online. Whatever! I tried explaining how helpful it is to be able to have conversations with others in similar positions, but no one seems to understand. My FI teases me about it, but I caught him reading Wedding Bee the other day! HA! He said it was for research purposes. :)
I talk about weddingbee a lot and people look at me and seem to be thinking "ohhhhkayyyy, ummmm, I don't know what that is, whatever tickles your pickle". But when I send them links to fun weddingbee blogs and posts, they're all about it!
I kind of gave up on trying to tell people about it. They all looked at me like I was nuts. My FI is the only one who knows how addicted I am!
i don't tell anyone about it. my fi obviously knows, and one night we were talking to another couple getting married so he told the girl about it because he thought it's so helpful for me, so it could be helpful to her too. she didn't seem interested at all, and i was glad. i don't want to share my world!
I want to talk about but when I say it's a wedding blog people look at me like I'm insane so only my mom, my MOH and my FI really know! But really only my FI knows the true obsession I have! And I just tell him this is the 1 time in my life that I get to be absorbed in all things wedding and so i will!!!!!
Wedding Bee is not necessarily understood by all. Outsiders that I speak to often view it as some sort of obsessive thread on which people can waste time. I realize now that this helped me through ridiculous amounts of DIY projects and emotional struggles. My FH kind of looks at me sideways and nods his head. Precious.
My BFF/MOH is the only person who I've told about it besides FI. And she really doesn't know much about it, and she has no clue how much I'm on here. FI on the other hand, lives with me so he knows LOL. He thinks it's cute though. He'll be like "you're buzzing away over there aren't u?" hehe
R is the only one that I really talk to about WB, and he makes fun of me for it, but he's always curious. He tries to hide it, but he likes it, lol!
I think there are a lot of people out there who don't really get blogging in general. Of course someone who doesn't have their own favorite blogs won't be able to understand how one blog like this can have such a strong community and source for inspiration. Haha, we all get you on here - let's all just be thankful of that. :)
Some of my friends got it immediately, but I have to say I was dissappointed that my MOH never seemed to care. I don't think she read any of my posts!
I don't bring it into random conversations... except with my FI. He thinks I'm crazy but I think it makes him happy to see that I have an outlet for wedding overload.
I understand all of it. I'm getting ready to bring one of my coworkers over here too! She's an encore and getting married far earlier than I am and also almost about to get her ring so she needs Weddingbee NOW!
But seriously..my sis, if she ever gets on here, she'll probably link immediately to my blog and then beginning blog-critiquing and tell me more design/styles.
Only my husband knows and he's totally supportive. He thinks it's great that I've found a nice place on the internet!
When ever my FI calls and can hear that I sound preoccupied, he asks if I'm blogging away. He always checks, so are you being a bee? He gets it though. In fact, (here's a secret I haven't told) he's a bee too! Yes, he is. His name doesn't really give him away 'cause it could be used by a girl or guy. He doesn't blog often but likes to check things out every so often. I am glad I have his support.

Do you ever try to explain to someone what Weddingbee means to you as a bride only to get a blank stare? My friends and family think I'm a little extreme. Ha! Sometimes, I refer to a bee ex: Miss French Bulldog went to Canada and took a little gnome with her. Believe me...blank stare is the polite thing to say.
