I would go with the LV or LB shoes or purse, not even a question. Oh my, those classic red soles, yup that would be my choice.
I'd just toss it in with savings. I'm a obsessive saver that would rather have money knowing I could spend it if I wanted to, than actually spend it. But if I had to spend it, I'd get the purse!
Future travel would be my choice...retail therapy is nice but it's only instant gratification to me. Vacations last longer, are more relaxing and fun memories are made!
I would do travel. Specifically 4 days in Puerto Rico, since that's about the cost and I could go now lol.
@tksjewelry: So the funny thing is that I made the mistake of teaching DH what red soles mean...so he knows if I ever came home with red sole shoes that I spent some serious dough! Its funny though because now whenever we go to the mall or airport and see some he goes "ohhhh she has expensive shoes on - red soles" :)
I'm so boring! I got a bonus this year and I used it to finish paying off one of my student loans. Sigh.
@jboltz19: Haha, DH knows them too. We watch the Five every night and he always comments on the dark haired ladies shoes. She usually wears the black classic LBs, and now he always points them out when she has red soles.
Travel is important to me for sure, DH and I have a solid travel budget savings plan set up for the trips we plan to take this year so I feel good about our savings and this would just be extra for those trips - not necessarily generate a new trip for us! I am just thinking that something classic (LV purse or fancy shmancy shoes) are something I will likely never buy unless the money falls into my hands...I'm also turning 30 this year (in May) and I thought it could be a fun 30th bday gift to myself!
Decisions decisions!
It would go straight into the bank, like almost all of my tax return this year.
I'd probably spend some on clothes or some fun stuff and pay off some debt if I had it. If there was anything left, into savings it goes!
I'd just save it. I get much more gratification from saving money for nice trips, our house, etc than from buying an expensive purse or shoes.
I'd put some away for travel, etc, and I'd use a bit to buy some clothes for work.
Travel would be my choice. Or paying off credit cards. But travel would be so much more fun.
I'd definitely get a new designer bag, since I skipped treating myself at Christmas this year like I usually do. I'd stick the rest in savings, likely to be used for travel later on.
This is what I used to do with found money before I had a wedding to pay for:
I would save 90% and spend 10%. If $120 isn't enough to buy anything you really want, I would put it in a savings account nicknamed "Fun Money" and then wait until you have enough there for a big splurge. I tend to enjoy the anticipation more than the having, anyway!
@jboltz19: HAHA!! That is so true!!! I wish I had never shown my husband how to recognize LV or Gucci or Chanel etc patterns! Now when I take out a purse I havent used in a while that looks "new" to him, he grills me about it!
I would save it or go on a mini vacation over the course of a weekend. I'd probably feel bad spending it all on a purse, lovely as it would be.
VACATION!!!!
I find that is the best way to blow any extra money we get. Probably why our savings takes hits constantly haha
Weekend in NYC!
Flights, Hotel, 2 great dinners, Broadway show!
That $1,200 would be gone in a heartbeat!
Well, here's the thing...we are putting our entire tax return away for savings - quite a chunk of change. We also make monthly contributions to 3 different savinsg accounts (General, House and Travel) - so we have enough put away for the 4 trips we are taking this year (Boston, Chicago, Florida and the big one Napa).
My bonus (the part I was expecting) is going towards CC bills. So I feel like this is free money! I'm leaning towards a purse. I haven't bought a new one in 4 years (I am a recovering Coach addict who unfortunately has set her sites higher as I've aged - hence the LV want!)...so I'm thinking that may win out! However, I may save the money to make the purchase closer to my 30th birthday in May!
I'm so proud of all the responsible Bee's out there. For the last year this is 100% how I have been, everything went into savings for either the new house or the upcoming wedding. After all those responsible actions for the last 14 months I think it may be splurge time! If I had any more vacation I could use for 2012 I may have gone more towards an extra trip - but I have all my vacation days committed...
@jboltz19: I say buy the purse, but be as practical as you can. I was in a similar situation and I purchased the LV Trouville and now I rarely use it because it's, well, a little flashy, over the top? Very 2003? So just be practical!

My favorite LV's right now are the Alma, any sized Speedy and Stellar GM in the Mahina Leather ($4200!).
I want to say I would spend it on Loubies but really I probably wouldn't. I would probably put it in our general savings right now.
I cannot understand spending the insane amounts of money people do on shoes that have red soles (No one else noticess) or purses with a certain label. But that is just me. I would save it or splurge on a fun little trip somewhere.
I'd throw it in savings and maybe take a couple hundred and do something fun :)
@mittens111211: right now I am loving delightful PM and Totally MM both in the classic monogram! Classic and timeless in my eyes! ;)
I go with the purse. It sounds like you are already incredibly money smart & since this is a bonus & not money you were expecting I'd treat yourself. I've always wanted Loubs until I read one of his interviews not too long ago. Now I swear I'll never buy his amazingly gorgeous shoes. Enough of my rant... lol. Go for whatever you normally wouldn't buy yourself.
Probably put most towards student loans and maybe $100-200 towards some new clothes. Bo-ring lol.
get.out.of.debt. that's my plan with any scrap of money right now.
@alicia1745: I'm feeling un-educated...what was said in this interview?
Save half, if not 3/4 of it, and use the rest on a fun experience you've always wanted to try.
When I'm on my death bed, I'm not going to be saying, "Man, I wish I would have bought that purse!" I'd be more inclined to say I wish I would have climbed a mountain or something equally neat.
I would definately put the extra towards travel/savings spending account! I also get my bonus tomorrow!! Yay!!
I voted to save for the future/travel. We really love traveling, and that is something we enjoy. But, do what makes you the happiest!
I'd go w/the LV bags, I have a few, and they have farrrrr outlasted all my other super expensive designer bags. The shoes are hot, BUT, they will probably wear out way sooner than the bag. I've literally had beer spilled on/in it, blood, wine, fell on cement..and they are all still perfect. I am a huge LV fan, so, LV all the way!!! <PS-if you purchase the Damier Canvas, the naturally dark brown handles peel a bit, it's not a big deal and doesn't effect the bag, but it's just what that collection does> I say go for the speedy! I have the speedy 25 and 30, and 30 is the perfect size! :)
I'd spoil myself with like a mini $500 shopping spree of things I know my wardrobe needs/items Ive had my eye on, then save the rest. Maybe look into a gorgeous Michael Kors bag? I'm just not into classic LV bags and my fiance just surprised me with a Michael Kors and I love it and feel the designs are really versatile! I am a huge louboutin fan but unless I had some serious income, no debt, no needs ...I would never spend that much on a pair of shoes.
I would put it in my special savings towards a trip to Antarctica someday!

So...I thought this could be fun! I found out today that I am getting extra in my annual bonus (my boss is currently my favorite person). My bonus was already being divided amongst 1) our new bed 2) paying off CC ... DH and I are putting all our taxes into savings so I feel like this bonus is perhaps some money to have fun with. Here are some of the items I have been thinking about having fun with: a Louis Vuitton purse - classic style, my first ever pair of Louboutin's - classic style black patent pumps, mini shopping trip for some more practical needs (carry on suitcase, messenger back, kindle case, work shoes, work clothes), rainy day/travel fund for future use.
Wondering what you all would do? It is approx an extra $1200....
