So this is so gross I can’t believe I’m typing this, but I really don’t have anyone I can ask in real life except my doctor who will charge me a $25 copay.
Does anybody else get a bit… poopy… when your aunt is visiting for the month?
Today is the first full day of my cycle and I don’t have the runs, it’s just the same feeling I get after eating too much Mexican, and I’ve been to the bathroom twice today instead of my usual once. I’m concerned because I read it’s one of the symptoms of having endometriosis if you get that way when you have your period. I don’t have painful cramps or anything but I know you don’t have to be in any pain at all to have endo.

I do, almost every single month on the first day of my period.

@Magdalena: Yeah, it’s because there is a lot of pressure on your colon. At least that’s what I was told. I always go to the bathroom more when it’s that time of the month than normal so you aren’t totally alone 🙂

Yeah that happens to me almost every time. It’s usually the first day or the day before.

This is also common if you have IBS, because of the increased estrogen.

Yes this happens to me also. I was told that it happens because your BMR rises a little during this time. Not sure if this is true or not. But makes sense.

Haha, as icky as it is, as other bees have admitted, it happens to me too. I’m either gassy or have an ‘upset stomach’ at least one day right towards the beginning of that week. I’ve never heard of it’s connection to endo before, but I just figured that with cramps and the icky feeling I have the day or two before that it’s just a less fun ‘natural reaction’ to hormone changes.

THis happened to me before i was on the pill, when i would get bad cramps. Since i went on the pill it doesn’t happen, so i know that it must be related to uterine contractions. I wouldn’t worry about it too much, but if you are concerned about endometriosis, maybe the $25 copay is worth it?

I do and I have endometriosis.

I get really gassy and kind of (TMI) really soft poop.

This happens to me too. I was told that its because of the contractions of your uterus and the hormone that makes your smooth muscles contract. Your uterus is a smooth muscle and so is your colon…don’t you love biology?
