I have no idea what this is. Can you fill me in?! I've heard of it but never around my area.
Here is a pretty good explanation of threading, but you can google it as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threading_(epilation)
Anyways, I love having my eyebrows threaded! It is so much more effective than waxing. I usually go once a month and they do a great job with my brows!
I thought about having it done, but when I walked by a station at the mall that was actually doing it, I saw them stick the thread in their mouth to hold it up and instantly decided against it.
I had it done and it HURT!!!! I was in tears and normally it takes a lot for that to happen. So, I've decided to stick with waxing and trying to pluck whatever shows up in between waxes. If it works for you, go for it, but it definitely was not right for me!
@Puggy: That's actually how they do the threading. The part that is in the person's mouth does not get anywhere near your face.
I started threading as opposed to waxing a year ago and I love it. It does hurt more but I feel it's worth it. More accurate/precise and very little irritation.
@hotchild - can you PM me the place you go in NYC? I meant to ask you this a while back.
I've been getting my eyebrows threaded for years. It stings a little but it is MUCH easier on your skin than waxing.
@Puggy: They hold the threads in their mouth for tension. The thread that is in their mouths never touches your skin.
Check out this video to get an idea of how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFXV4rutsRg&hd=1
@Kittyachi When I lived in NY, I swore by Unique Threading Salon in Chelsea on 8th and 23rd. I might actually take the Acela up to NY just to get my brows done there before my wedding.
Oh, I understand it doesn't go in my skin or near my face. There was just something about it that just grossed me out. I can't do it because of that.
I have it done as well! It hurts a bit more than waxing, especially the lip but it does last longer and is better for your skin.
I was actually thinking of doing this also! If you want an arch does it still work well?
Does it last longer!?!
Osaka, it goes along with your natural arch perfectly. It lasts alot longer than when I went to get them arched with a shaver.
I've been getting it done for years and I absolutely love it. Its waaaay better than waxing cause they have more control over the work they do. I don't think it hurts any more than waxing....I think I'm just used to it.
I get my eybrows threaded about once a month and I absolutely LOVE it!!! It doesnt cause me as much irritation as the wax does and seems to last a lot longer. Im in Florida and its really gaining popularity down this way..
I've had this done before and I didn't think it hurt anymore than waxing! It's great for people who have sensitive skin and can't wax.
I have had it done. It hurts so bad, but it looks so good. I prefer it over waxing because it looks better to me and it seems to last longer.
I must be weird because I don't think it hurts nearly as bad as waxing. It's so much more precise than waxing and lasts a lot longer.
Waxing hurt a lot for me but with threading I've found it varies a lot. Depending on who's doing it can be over so fast and barely hurt or take forever and be ouch ouch. Still need to find a good place new my new apartment.

Who else has gone and gotten it done and how do you like it? I think I am addicted. It hurts, but they look awesome and it lasts for a long time!
