Out of all of my friends, I have always had the best skin. No acne in the teen years. Barely a pimple. But the past few weeks, I’ve been breaking out like mad (stress related, likely) and the wedding is less than a month away (eek!). As Ive always had good skin and didnt care about the stray pimple here & there, I don’t know how to go about remedy’ing my break outs. Any tips/advice?

I would go straight to a dermatologist. You don’t have time to mess around with OTC stuff.

I feel your pain. The same three pores I think. It never gets better even when you get older:(

See if your dermy can recommend a sulfer soap. Smells awful, but it should help! I always had great skin also and suddenly before I had to appear in a bathing suit/strapless dress, my back broke out (stress related I’m sure!). Dermatologist gave me a perscription (which i didnt fill) and a sulfer bar soap which did the trick!

Ahh! This is happening to me right now. I’m not abnormally stressed out, and I still have a year until our wedding…but hot damn I have been breaking out like mad!
I second MissAsB‘s idea- Head to a dermatologist if you can. I think that’s probably my next step too…

Ok, dumb question! IVe never been to a dermatologist before. Do you know if I have to get recommended by my doctor?

That depends. i would call your general care practitioner and ask. When I lived in NC, I just called a derm and set up an appt. Here in Michigan, when I tried to do the same, I needed a referral. I would def see a dermatologist, or try tea tree products from The Body Shop. And—drink TONS of water. Good luck!

I think it depends on your insurance……. down here, dermatologists are considered “specialists” and some insurance companies require a referral. I’ve never had a problem.

Until you get into a dermatologist…TONS of water, change your pillowcase/sheets often, and wash your makeup brushes frequently. Makes a huge difference for me.

I def. say a derm. would be best, but a facial always helps, too. It’s almost like a ‘reset’ for my skin!

I’ve been having the same problem. I’ve always had clear skin. Then about 2 years ago my job started stressing me out a lot, since then I can’t get it under control. I quit my job because it was just too much for me, and I have noticed improvement, but I still get them every now and then, but the worst part is they leave scars. I’m going on a diet to see if that helps. I read that not sleeping well (which I wasnt) not eating regularly (I wasn’t! sometimes I’d go all day without eating!), and of course stress will cause breakouts. I bought a sulfur mask which has also been working amazing!

I have had cystic acne off and on since I was about 19 and lately it’s been bad, probably due to stress like you said. I have been using Acne Free Severe for a few days now and the difference is amazing, even FI noticed. I decided to try it based on recommendations from another forum I am active on and while it hasn’t even been a week yet, I have hope that my skin will look just fine for my wedding. Here’s the original thread where people were recommending it if you’re interested: http://www.naturallycurly.com/curltalk/makeup-skin-care/125075-adult-acne-2.html
