I have never heard of this nor have I ever gotten emails from FB like that. Have you tried emailing the facebook support team to see if they know what might be going on?

This is completely NWR but I thought I might get a little help! I have a facebook account and I log in with my hotmail address. The other day I got an email, to my GMAIL account, apparently from Facebook, telling me one of my friends had updated her status. Her real profile pic and her genuine status update appeared in the email.
I was so freaked out as I have no clue how facebook got my gmail address! And if it is not really facebook emailing me then how does this person know who my friends are and what their statues are? I changed all my passwords (gmail, hotmail and facebook) and I deactivated my facebook account. But I got another email telling me that another friend had updated her status. She is the sister of the other friends and they are my fiance's sisters (don't know if this matters!).
How on earth is this happening? The emails do not ask me to click on any link or anything like that. I am so puzzled! If you can help at all I would REALLY appreciate it!!!!
Thank you x
