I am thinking of creating a business facebook page for DH’s electrical company in order to get the word out there a little more. It can never hurt to get more business or even for other to just know you are in business and what you do.
If you like a local business, what information would you want them to share? What would be helpful or informative for you?
Any advice or information you would want to see would be greatly appreciated.

@roxy821: If you have a web address, that’s always important for me. Also, a way to contact the company – like a phone number or e-mail address.

Any specials you’re offering just to FB friends! 😉

What is really important is to decide if it is going to be an active page. It’s important to post often (few times a week) and keep information relevant, but not necessarily business centric. Consumers don’t want to be fed about how great the company is 24/7.
As an electrical company, you could have small posts about what bulbs are the most efficient and why, or offer the best cost savings long term, why electrical work is best left to professionals and not DIY, etc.
Keep it interactive with polls or questions, etc. Good luck!

Social media is my thing, and it was part of my job at my last position. I worked for a greenhouse that sold organic vegetable and herb plants, so I posted lots of recipes using what we sold, articles on organics, flowers/vegetables that were in season, things like that.

Thank you for all the ideas.
@kmarie719- Great posts. I know DH always gets emails when there are changes in the electrical code that affect homeowners so I can post those updates as well.

Website info, contact information, hours. Sometimes people neglect to include these seemingly basic details. Also, it would be good to provide discount updates in your feed and informative posts about electrical matters, like the code changes you mentioned.

I like businesses that tell me either fun interesting things, when they have deals/sales, or nothing and I can just find their page for their website, address, and phone number.

Sales/Deals for FB only customers
Fun facts about the business/or what it pertains to
Hours of operations/Contact info
Bio of the owner with a summary of experience, I like to know who I’m hiring and that they are qualified
And not required but I like to read like “When X isn’t an X he spends time with his wife and dog Charlie and they like to hike, bike blah blah blah” I’m just nosy and I feel like if they are doing work at my home it’s a great way to break the ice “I read on your website you hike, what is your favorite spot” other than “the toilet (or whatever is being fixed) is over there”
Best of Luck!
