Yikes! Sorry to hear you had a lousy facial and mani-pedi!! For facials, I recommend going to Apotheca (http://apothecasf.com/) try and book with Kirsten, she is really awesome! I've never heard of charging extra for extractions... that's pretty wierd!! They usually come with extractions unless the menu specifies "no extractions". I would have interpreted the mani/pedi the same way you did but seriously, $80 is too much! I hope you post this review on Yelp!
ew. that's not great. sorry you didn't have a great experience.
to answer your questions: 1) i would read mani/pedi - $40 as what you thought, but if i were in a nice place i would probably think that px was too good to be true. and 2) not having an extraction in a facial is ridic.
my advice to you for the future is to go to a place that specializes in facial treatments. i go to mario badescu in new york - it's not soothing and relaxting like bliss by any means, but boy do they know skin! ive had other things done there (waxing, massage) and it's decent, bt since the thing i care most about is my skin, im happy to compromise on the other stuff if need be, but there it's great so i don't have to. skin just happens to be the priority.
hope this helps for next time. ugh.
oh and ps - i dont think i ever get a better mani/pedi than my asian place on the corner. looks great, lasts forever. would never go anywhere else!
I have noticed that if the description of the facial does not say extractions, then they are not included in the price of that facial.. I assume that the lavendar bud facial was for calming the skin, so they would probably not do extractions with that facial. Make sure you read the descriptions carefully, and ask lots of questions when its your first time with a new person. Try looking on yelp.com for suggestions for a new spa.
Um, I have had tons and tons of facials and they have always been customized to my skin and always included extractions because that's what my skin needs. I have never heard of someone charging to perform that service and then not being trained in a wide range of techniques--extractions being pretty basic. I go to an AWESOME lady in the Marina, she charges $110 for one of the best facials I've ever had--pm me if you'd like her name!
$80 is pretty high for the area for even a fancy mani-pedi... i think that you're totally right on in your disappointment with them. I wonder if the manager might do something about it for you if you emailed them or something?

Sorry, there are no users yet.
So its 100 days and counting until the big day.
I called up Mr. Wine-Oh to tell him I was about to make a big splurge. I needed a facial to prep my skin and calm me down after a crazy week of planning and work and to not freak out when the Credit Card came in.
I decided to call up the new spa on the Peninsula (Will provide the name upon private request to me) to inquire about group services for my bridesmaids in November and to get a Facial and Mani/pedi today.
I read the SPA MENU and chose the following two. (exactly as written)
Lavendar Bud Facial $145
Basic Manicure/Pedicure - $40
Ok yes a little pricey on the facial but I said - I need the treatment.
Spa was goregous, employees were great!
I went into the cutest room to have my facial first. Could hear a few kids screaming in the walkway near the spa and could hear employees talking but the music and my tech's hands were keeping me peaceful.
I was anxiously awaiting my favorite part (EXTRACTIONS!) which never came. At the end of the 1 HOUR long facial I asked my tech - "Are we going to do the extractions?" To which she replied " I have not been trained in that yet?"
What?? I thought all facials were done by licensed aesthitician! Well stupid me for not asking - and just Assuming. Oh well I hope the mani-pedi is better.
The mani/pedi was OK. I would rate it a 3 out of 5. She didn't do as well as my usually favorite Vietnamese Gals - Barely did the cuticles but she was nice to talk to and at $40 it was a going rate. So I thought.
Well the spa Director popped in to talk about the services I wanted for my group. I mentioned the dissappointment on the extractions not being done and she said "Well that cost's extra?" Really? Extra -per blackhead? per what?
So Im a little peeved that I am about to spend $185 (Less a locals 10% discount) - and just want to get out of there.
Then it came time to check out. $225? What???
They charge me $80 for Mani Pedi - $80 Are you kidding me - There was no parrafin? No special treatment? Not even a thorough job - How did it come to $80.They said it was $40 for Manicure $40 for pedicure.
If you read the Menu as (Basic Manicure/Pedicure - $40) How would you read that?
SO overall Im disaoppointed and wanted to know If I had realistic expections of a facial? (I haven't had one in 2 years but I always knew them to include extractions)
Would you expect to get extractions when you purchase a facial?
Can anyone recommendation a place to get a proper facial please..
