I hae a facial every 4 weeks, because I also wax at the same time. I will have one about a 1 1/2 weeks before my wedding. It takes my skin about 3 days to clear up after a facial. I would love to have one less than a week before, but to be on the safe side........ Anyway, you should do what you feel is best for you. It just depends how your skin is. I know for me, my skin is best & makeup goes on so much better soon after a facial.
that's funny i just asked my esthetician this last week. she said schedule one 6 weeks out, and the second 2 weeks (minimum) out from the wedding (i wanted to fit in 2).
*edit* she said 2 weeks for me b/c its my first time and everyone's skin takes a different amount of time to "calm down". some 3 days is ok, some need 2 weeks!
4 weeks in between facial appointments is typical and 2 weeks before the wedding will be perfect. since you've already had a facial, i doubt any unexpected breakouts will occur esp since your hormones will be about the same 4 weeks from now. :)
try to keep your stress low and your skin will look healthier!
I've always heard two weeks as well. FSIL got one the morning before her wedding, but her skin is really resilient, and she looked great. If I did that, my face would be tomato red and pimply! I can't even get my eyebrows waxed without reacting like crazy, and I get it done with high quality wax.
I appreciate all the advice! I made the facial appointment and have since cancelled it. I've gotten a horrible infection around my eyes that sent me to the eye doctor and has me using an antibiotic cream on the effected skin, and I'm scared it was the facial!
OMG thats terrible! I cant prove that it was the facial but I am a cosmetologist and I have done many many facials on people. I do know that an infection is caused by not using clean implaments on a client. It is a State Law that Estheticians/Cosmetologist MUST use clean implaments on clients. If they didnt use clean brushes, towels, eye pads or anything else then yes it would be very easy to spread an infection from one client to another. If though they did use infected implamets on you, then that means the client before you must of had infected skin. That right there is a HUGE no-no. It is a law that you cannot work on infected skin. What kind of infection is it? I would def. call the salon and tell them what happened to you and who your service provider was. I wouldnt go back to them either. If things get bad enough, you have the right to report them to the State board of Cosmetology. Either way I think you should get your face a rest till your wedding!!! =)
Oh goodness, smoki, you're really having it rough this week! Your mom is being mean, you're fighting an infection and worried about the weather... Aw girl! I hope things start looking up! LOTS OF HUGS!!!!!!!!

Hi -
I had a facial today thinking 6 weeks before the wedding was appropriate and that I'd have plenty of time for any break-outs, etc. to clear up. The girl I see told me to come back in 4 weeks - so 2 weeks before the wedding, so that my skin was perfect for the wedding. I worry that's too soon, does anyone have any thoughts?
