Faint lines… When did you tell your husband?

I think it’s important that you guys go through such an important thing together. Even if you aren’t sure – let him be there for you during the process. It isn’t “stealing the thunder of telling him” – it’s “letting him in on the messy emotional process that is having a baby”.

@yougotme:  I tested the day my period was due and got a strong line. That’s when I told him. I know personally if it it ended up being chemical, you’d want him to know so he could support me.  Tell him whenever you feel comfortable.

Congrats, by the way! 🙂

I tested and got no lines the first time (with a stupid blue dye test) and didn’t tell him because it wasn’t worth saying, “Hey, I tested but didn’t really get anything.” 3 days later I tested and got a line on it. It wasn’t dark but it wasn’t a squinter. I shared that with him, even if it had been a squinter, because he is part of this with me and it is his baby too. He deserves to be involved.

@crayfish:  +1 I told FI right away. And I would again, even if it turns out to be a chemical, I’d need him there for support. A chemical is still a miscarriage and a loss and you’d want to have that support there for you.

I think I had a chemical last month, and I did end up telling my husband about it – before and after. However, I told him, “I’m not sure, it’s still extremely early. So, there’s a good chance it’s not going to stick.” Because we took a cautionary approach, we were not that hurt or devastated when the tests went negative.

I did tell him immediately, though, mostly because I wanted confirmation that I wasn’t crazy with the second line on the test.

@yougotme:  The first day I tested I got a very weak line. Our anniversary was two days later and I really wanted to wait and tell him then and also have a stronger line. I kept it in for 12ish hours before he was like, why are you being so weird, are you pregnant? So then I told him. And then we got to experience watching the line get darker over the next few days as I took new tests. Unfortunately, at 9 weeks we found out we had a miscarriage. 🙁 On the next pregnancy, because of the emotions involved, I imagine I will tell him right away, no matter how weak it the line is or isn’t.

How come no one gets digital tests? My test either said “pregnant” or “not pregnant”, no guessing required.

@MaVer610:  Digital tests aren’t as sensitive as the line tests. The line tests (especially first response) will show a postive before a digital. You’ll see over and over again on these threads people get positives on line tests before going for the digital for confirmation.

@yougotme:  I’m so glad he was so happy!! I know it’s scary but right now you’re pregnant, try to be happy about it since there’s nothing else you can do. Good luck and a happy and healthy nine months to you!

@yougotme:  First of all congrats on the positive!

I got the test at a Duane Reade. I am sure any large pharmacy would carry digital tests.

I was the same way, so once I got a faint line at 8DPO I went and got a digital and took it at 10DPO. I do not recommend that because mine said Not Pregnant. This sent me into a horrible depression that day because I thought I had lost the baby. DH convinced me to take another test the next day and the line was darker. I then tested every other morning for the next week and watched my lines get darker. I am now 8 weeks along.
