Which band in particular? I don't think anyone can really tell if a "name brand" ring is fake or not, unless you tell them! Or if it's poorly made.
My friend got a wedding band from her ILs (in their culture, ILs buy the bands)...she has doubts it's real because apparently she can't find it in google. I guess she's embarrassed to ask them.
Are you saying your friend's ring has cartier engraved on it and when she went to the website it's not shown? She can always take it into the store to have it authenticated by a sales person.
Yes, that's what I'm saying. She'll probably take it to a Cartier store...her wedding is a few days away so I guess she doesn't have time...anyways, thanks.
Has she looked on the Cartier website in addition to Google? Also, if it's a piece from a not current collection, it might be harder to find online. Interesting. I'm curious to find out the answer! Do you have a picture of it?
Perhaps she should post a photo of it on Purseforum.com in the jewelry box section. They should be able to identify it!
I bought a ring from a prestige jeweller in Canada a few weeks ago, and that particular style is not listed on their website, so they don't always show all their stock online.
Here's something I found that might help
http://raymondleejewelers.net/blog/how-to-spot-a-fake-cartier-love-bracelet/
and a couple images of the hallmark

Eeek. I'm interested to see how this turns out. Hopefully it has the proper markings.
Thank you for all the advice ladies. I'm going to tell her to send me a pic so I can post it here! You're all great.
It's yellow and platinum gold...she just doesn't think it's real Cartier. But I like the comment about how it might not be on their website if it isn't a recent style...interesting. I hope it's real.
Ok Bees, here are the pics she sent (although the Cartier is not very visible).
ETA: please disregard the pic with the signature, it's not visible at all!
I know you said to disregard the image with the signature, but that is the most important one! haha. The signature looks a little fishy to me. But it is a blurry photo.
Doesn't look legit to me but I'm not an expert. Is it new or second hand or vintage?
I think it's vintage, I'm not sure...it certainly doesn't look new.

From the PS thread (the poster wanted to purchase a Cartier item, but was hesitant as she wasn't sure it was authentic):
"Yesterday I sent him an email regarding my concerns with the authenticity of this ring. He replied:
"I have dealt with this many times with people. Cartier (NYC Store) can verify....but it takes along time and is very expensive(Typical Cartier). So unless you are dealing with a very expensive vintage piece it is better to have it looked at by a high end jeweler. One time I had a customer go to the NYC main store and they sent him to a jeweler around the corner because it was: As I said too expensive and time consuming. Can you believe Cartier sent them to someone else.100% Guranteed Cartier......RJ"
I called Cartier''s customer service line today and, sure enough, the authentication service was pricey, to the tune of $1200, and she said it could take anywhere from 3 weeks to 6 months."
@anna22: does it only say cartier? if thats the only stamp on it I would say not a real carier ring
@starla: OMG $1200? Wow...nice, Cartier...it seems so silly to pay that much for a ring that might cost $1500-$2000..
@maspa: I'll have to ask her and I'll update.
Thank you for your answers so far ladies.
May I ask why she's so concerned? It's a lovely band, unless she's planning to sell it, I'm not sure why the authenticity even matters?
@MissNoodles: It is! But if it's a Cartier band, the appraisal will be higher and therefore affect any insurance she'd want to take out on her band - just in case!
@Anna22: Hi Anna! I actually wrote that post for RLJ :) I'm going to e-mail my boss this picture to see if he can tell. The other brides who suggested it just might be a piece from an older collection are definitely right. Cariter's site only has their current collections online. I'm not familiar with this style, but hopefully my boss will be able to give you a little more insight.

Does anyone know how to spot a fake Cartier wedding band? I've googled and can't find anything on bands. Any help is appreciated.
