I think this depends on what you want. My e-ring never deterred any guys from flirting with me though. I think it even made some more flirtatious, unfortunately. I work in the field for my job and I just don’t wear a ring in certain places.

I have a “decoy” ring for when I’m out playing with rocks (I’m a geology major and destroy things easily). My real ring is a 3 stone diamond ring, my fake ring is a single stone, they dont look anything alike but it makes me feel better having something on, and no one really notices. It’s kinda just whatever you like 🙂

I really don’t think that anyone who is determined to flirt with you will be dissuaded by any sort of ring on your hand.

Back when I was working retail, I had a ring on my left hand that my dad got me. It was nowhere close to an engagement/wedding ring but I got hit on all the time. At work. It was ridiculous.

I got a stand in ring, and it is completely opposite from my “real” set. It gives me the chance to change things up a bit and experience another style that I like while still keeping the set that is sentimental and beautiful and means so much to me.

My real ring set: (1.25 ct unenhanced RB moissy with diamond band; white gold)

My stand in set: princess cut white sapphire, size unknown, silver.

FutureMrs_: I am a nurse and I use my hand a lot from caring for my patient washing my hands a million time from the time I step foot in the door until I go home. My fiancé and I can up with the idea that I wear a work engagement ring because I don’t want to loose any diamond or mess the seating of the ring. I tell you I am fine with it

    Chaedra: Same here!

Working as a nurse I don’t wear my Ering to work as I don’t want to lose/damage it, but mostly because I really don’t like the idea of getting bodily fluids/germs etc on it and bringing those home, and I had my stone start to poke through a glove once – so I have a plain titanium band that I wear to work, and my FI and I have agreed will continue to wear that or a stand in all the time at work.

FutureMrs_: Definitely a good idea, but don’t think it matters if they match, like others have said no one but you will notice. I’m actually getting a cheap CZ stand in ring this weekend, we go on several beach holidays every year(to escape the weather in Scotland!)and I don’t know what effect sea water sand and chlorine will have on my diamond & white gold ring over time, but at the same time I don’t want to not wear my e-ring. About the flirting, made absolutely no difference to me wearing ring or not, still the same amount of creeps!

I think it’d be fun to get a totally different style from your real set…mix it up a bit!

FutureMrs_: If you are worried about going to shady places, I wouldn’t wear anything that looked like it cuold have value at all. Someone who is going to mug/rob you for your jewellery won’t know that your ring is actually a CZ worth $30 or a diamond worth $3000.
If you feel more comfortable with something on at least, I would wear a plain band.
