I am 2 months away from my wedding, and I MUST figure out my centerpieces!
Right now, I sort of have a concept going, but I need some feedback.
Here is a VERY ROUGH picture of the beginnings of what the centerpiece might look like:
1. There will be tea lights (white/ivory) in the branch holders
2. The heart tag will have the table number burned into it and it will be tied with twine around the biggest candle holder
3. There will be acorns and small pinecones scattered around the tree slice
4. I may or may not burn a little heart w/ my FI’s and my initials into a corner of the wood slice (opinions on this?)

@inky_1: I think you are certainly on the right track! Its hard to envision without seeing it all together. I would say completely finish it so we can better get an idea!
I think it might look best with various shapes, sizes and colors of leaves instead of large ones in the same color….just a thought.

I like where its going, but I agree that there should be different sizes and colors of leaves

@inky_1: I think it looks great and I like all the suggestions you have. I like the idea of your initials on it as well!

I posted a photo that might be of assistance…..
It has a lot of the same elements you were looking for.
I personally would get rid of the piece of wood on the bottom and the heart….

@weddingbound: there are actually 3 colors of leaves in there: red, orange, and yellow…
different types of leaves is a definite possibility. I only bought 1 type so I could assemble a concept of sorts for now.

@californiabride2013: Your centerpiece is gorgeous! The only thing is – my reception is a day-time brunch reception, so while I do want candles, making them the PRIMARY focal point is not ideal since it will be light outside. Thus why I am trying to encorporate wood and leaves 🙂

Hobby Lobby sells bags of leaves in different shapes/sizes. I really like the design, but agree that the leaves need some work. They look too fake to me and the rest of the centerpiece looks so natural, that it somewhat clashes in my opinion. I think different sized leaves not so “perfect” (like crinkled, some missing edges, etc.) would help tie it together better. I also like the idea of adding your initials.

These are very fall and you could spray paint them in any color with glitter too if you wanted.
Under google images: Spray painted pinecones

As a few pp’s have said, I would use smaller leaves.I would definitely recommend you not spray paint pinecones. Nothing looks more obviously phoney than items from mother nature in colors that they are not found naturally.
I think with the woodburned heart in a different position and a little open area visible on the base, your centerpiece will be great.

@MadTownGirl: They are real preserved leaves… I am not using ANY fake anything. :

@julies1949: I would be using natural pinecones 🙂 no fake anything! Even the leaves are real… lol

I think it looks really nice! Definitely post a picture once they’re more complete:)

I like the idea so far. I do think it looks a little heavy with so much wood. How about just using one branch holder on each and putting the tea lights in hurrican lanterns or jars. You’ll get more light and they are see-though so don’t look as heavy. Also, I would add some more leaves and maybe some pine cones or acorns just to had a bit more variation. You could even add some of those clear glass stones (hopefully you know what I mean). They would pick up the light from the candles and be quite pretty. I personally would steer away from squash or pumpkins as those just make me think halloween.

@inky_1: HOLY COW! I thought they were too perfect to be real! That is awesome. Well, I’m sure in person you can tell that they are real; like I said, with them looking so perfect in the picture I automatically thought they were fake. My mistake!
