@iheartnerds:Ooh I love the maple leaf! I looked forever for something Fall-ish to go under my wheat centerpieces, and I wish I had found these! My only suggestion would be to maybe tone down the pumpkins a little (unless you really want that pop of color). I found some really cool mini pumpkins that were white, but then they had green and orange streaks in the creases of the pumpkin. You could also do a glitter pumpkin, which could reflect the light from your votives nicely.
Even if you don't change anything, I think these will be really pretty for your Fall wedding.
I would lose the felt maple leaf and stick with just the runner. It might look more sleek to replace the leaf with a mirror to reflect the branches and orange. (Many venues provide table mirrors, I know ours does which is great!) Also, if you haven't purchased all of the runners yet, it may be an idea not to have the runner at all to save money and perhaps just scatter a few acorns or something "fallish" around the vase and candles-just some thoughts! Love the pumpkins and Branches!
@Kateski: I like the leaf! But I would put the candles around it, not on it.
I would add something to the sticks. Maybe some jewels, flowers, autumn leaves, etc?
@Kateski: Thanks for the suggestions. I'm glad you like the pumpkins and branches because that's actually the part I thought people would find weird. :)
@Oribel013690: I definitely think placing the votives around is the way to go. Save on Crafts has some preserved oak leaf branches that are bright orange. I thought of adding those to make it more interesting. I'm just trying to keep the cost down.
@Oribel013690: I just felt it was a little bit busy with the maroon runner, purple leaf and orange pumpkins. I love the orange pumpkins-great for fall and the twigs are adorable--just my opinion"less is more" and the Big Leaf just feels a bit out of place. The twigs and pumpkins look so natural and then you have this big artifical purple leaf that clearly didn't come from a tree haha. Just thought it would flow nicer to reflect more of the actual centerpeice and bring out her accent color instead of taking away from it.
@Kateski: I worried about that, too. But since purple is my main wedding color, I was trying to find a way to incorporate it on the tables. :)
@iheartnerds: Then definitely stick with the orange pumpkins :)
I agree with someone of the PP. Like I said, I like the leaf, but maybe you could do either the lead or the runner. I didn't have a runner, so I felt I needed something to ground my centerpieces. My SIL gave me a bunch of 8x10 pieces of glass from some picture frames, and I bought sheets of bright orange stationary paper to go underneath.

@mmbar: that flows nicely with all the natural components and you threw the purple in with the linens. It looks awesome.
Good effort! I really like the maple leaf, vases, and branches. I think the sheer runner with the felt leaf do not mix well b/c the materials clash. I would go with one or the other. I also really like mmbar's...maybe you could have the leaf with the candles and pumpkins spread around it. Then maybe wrap table numbers around the vase. Just an idea...
@Kateski: and @iheartnerds: Thanks, ladies. Those wheat centerpieces were almost the death of FI and me the week before the wedding.
What about using a burlap runner instead of the colored runner?I think the purple leaf would look great on burlap.
it's awesome! I agree with maybe either the leaf or the runner, not both, but it's hard to tell without a tablecloth underneath! if I were to choose one only, I like the leaf, since it's not a boring ol' table runner :)
More good suggestions, thank you. I really wanted a centerpiece that's different from what you see at most weddings and also really affordable, without looking TOO cheap. I know it's not super elegant but I think it's unique, which is what I wanted.
Using the leaf without the runner seems to be a popular suggestion, and I think it's a good one. I bought a bunch of each since I wasn't sure what I was going to do, but I got a good deal on both. Maybe the felt leaves on the dining tables and runners for some of the other tables (escort card/guestbook table, etc)?
@iheartnerds: I think going with the leaves on the table and using the runners elsewhere is a good idea. That way you get more bang for your buck!
I say lose the maple leaf, but what if you could add glitter to the branches somehow? Can you buy glittler gold spray paint to jazz them up a little? I think if you did that it would make it look a little more fancy!!! Good job though!!!

So I was feeling bored, waiting for FI to get home from work and decided to make a mock up of my centerpiece idea. I just happened to have some mini pumpkins in my garage that have been there since November. Anyway, try to picture this with a white tablecloth underneath, and I'm thinking I might put the votives around the felt maple leaf instead of on it. Thoughts? Is it too plain? Is it just plain weird? What should I change?
