I LOVE mason jars with flowers, especially ones that are local or in season! A friend of mine used pitchers from family and friends-- so they were all mix-matched (mismatched)? and the effect was really unique, down to earth.
@love108: I was going to do the pitcher thing.. but I was having a hard time finding them.. and since I am in FL and the wedding is in NY... It would be a lot to ship them. I am able to get Mason Jars from Walmart I believe.
@Jenn79InLove: Depending on how long you get to FL before the wedding, you can check out yard sales, too. Might be able to find them cheap :)
You can get mason jars VERY cheaply at Wal Mart. I used them in my fall wedding, not as centerpieces, but as candle holders around the room.
I was going to use them as centerpieces. I was going to use seasonal flowers, and fill the bottom of the jar with cranberries.
For my best friends wedding, we took mason jars and put wire hooks around the top of the jar and made a loop/hook. She then filled them with river rocks and water, we added fresh in season hydrangas to all of them and hung them on shepard hooks. She got the shorter ones at a craft store for like $2 each! It was very simple but very pretty.
Turn Mason Jars into FireFly Jars
1) Buy Battery Powered LED Lights
2) Frost Paint Mason Jars (comes in a spray paint)
3) Tape/Hook LED lights to String and hand from the Lid
The bigger the jar, the more dramatic the statement :)
They will end up looking something like this:

I am looking for suggestions for centerpieces for an outside wedding in Ithaca, NY in September. It is going to be a very casual event so I am not thinking anything fancy.. For some reason I am drawn to Mason Jars..
Any suggestions??
Thanks!
