I’m going to run my first half this fall! I was a collegiate runner but I have never raced further than a 10k. I’m actually participating in an injury prevention study so I will get a gait analysis done, new shoes, and 16 weeks of coaching! My gait analysis is Saturday so I’m assuming the training will start a week or two after that.

I’m pretty psyched- I hope that the timing of the study works out for the BAA Half in October.

I did one full marathon last year and 7 half marathons (9 total)… this year, due to wedding expenses, I’ve had to cut back significantly. *sniffle*

So I’m going to run in ONE marathon relay with FI after the wedding. It’s on November 30th. But to stay motivated until it’s time to train, I am doing the Runner’s World run streak. I’m on day 4!

yeah, thankfully, i’m running in newtons and they are lasting much longer than other shoes (and they better for how much i paid for them!).

i’m working to register FI and i for a race that will cost $150 total and i’m heavily considering doing a pretty sweet 5k that’s held in the city next month or a 10k on july 4th to mark the end of my run streak. can’t decide.

I’m doing my first big races this year. I’m running a 10 mile in October, a half  in November and the Disney marathon in January.

I have never been a running, but a couple months ago I decided it was something I wanted to do.

if you think running races are expensive, don’t get started with triathlons.. I just had to buy a wetsuit today and it nearly made me cry to think about how much I’ve spent so far. 🙂

I told everyone I was retiring after my last marathon but I’m contemplating signing up for this one: http://www.sparkasse-marathon.at/index.php?id=11&L=3  if I’m trying to run a race in every country in europe, it would be nice to knock three off at once. 🙂

@jenangeles:  ugh yeah, my FI paid around $700 to do an Ironman!!! I’m hoping to do a fall half but I’m coming back from a bad injury so we shall see. I’ve done probably 15 half marathons and 7 fulls but got injured training for Boston 2012. Hoping to do Boston 2014 but again, we shall see! Right now I’m only running 15 miles/week so it’s a long way off to be in marathon shape again!

@mrs_pudding_pop: Thanks! Some days I’m super excited about it, but others I just question what I got myself in to. I must say, even though I am only in the very beginning stages of training it’s pretty awesome to see the changes my body is making. I never thought that running would be something I enjoyed, but each little accomplishment I get super proud of myself. I’m like that little kid that finally learned how to tie his shoes.

@mrs_pudding_pop:  I think I have told everybody at work about it! If I tell people it makes me more accountable. Pretty sure I would feel silly in a couple months if someone asked me and I was just like uhh…well…I decided not to.

Such a great idea for a thread!!

Half marathon in September!! I’ve just started running this year (January). I still need to drop about 15lbs but its coming off…slowly! Did my first 10k a couple of weeks ago in 65 minutes which I was pretty happy with… Less than 60 next time!! With the half I’m not going for a time (officially) but to run the whole distance would be good. Unofficially I’d like to come in under 2.5 hours 🙂

Any hints for dropping weight welcomed!! My muscle % is most definitely up, I’m just struggling to drop the calories!!
