Fall themes "sweets" buffet

posted 5 months ago in Beehive

Originally I thought I wanted a candy buffet table, but then moved on to the cookie buffet....  which has now evolved to an "Apple Cider Donut" buffet (my wedding is in October). I would like to add a few other treats to the table, but aside from mini apple cider bottles I am a little stumped.  This is the only "ode to fall" that I am doing at the wedding so I would like to keep to a harvesty theme with this....   any suggestions?

Pumpkin-shaped marshmallow cremes? I know that's more candy than "treat," but it could be cute.

Apple fritters, mini-pies, candied apples, sugar pecans...

MMMM apple cider donuts. What about hot mulled cider? Would that be too hard to serve? What about if your caterer hollowed out mini pumpkins and served something (bread pudding maybe? That says fall to me) in that?  Roasted pumpkin seeds?

Each fall Hershey makes chocolates shaped as leaves and wrapped in gold, dark green and burgundy foil.  They would be perfect for a fall theme!  If memory serves me correctly they are about the size of a 50 cent piece.

In the area where I am they make fried apple, sweet potatoe and peach pies. A tradition of the south I guess...

You could also make some mini pumpkin pies and pecan pies. Or mini pumpkin cheesecakes.

Or if you keep to the dougnuts, you have have other spiced doughnuts with different fall themed fillings: Creme de marron (not sure how to call that in English, it's a smooth chestnut paste), pumpkin, caramelized pecans, etc.

And a choice of icing to add to your doughnut.

How about Vermont Maple candies, the onces that are made of sugar and maple syrup and are shaped like a maple leaf. Like these:

anything pumpkin (pie, pumpkin chocolate chip bread, pumpkin coffee cake, pumkin bars, pumpkin mini muffins)

cranberry is also another very fall flavor/ingredient that could be incorporated into cookies or quickbreads

another option would be to have shortbread or an assortment of cookies, especially ginger or molasses, which always remind me of the fall

popcorn balls or candied apples are also associated with fall (at least for me) - the apples would go with your apple cider donuts...

Thanks all, those are great ideas!  I'm planning to stick with the donuts as the main attraction over pies and such, but I love the nuts, popcorn & candied apple ideas!!
