peachacid:  I like that dress – what about a wrap, rather than a cardigan? Like a pashmina? You could wear nylons instead of tights . . . They’d keep you warmer than bare legs.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with tights. Maybe black tights and black shoes? And a black pashmina? I think that would look classy. But I am sitting here in jeans and a T-shirt, so… ha ha!

Ok I LOVE that dress! I agree, black tights or nylons, black shoes (wedges or strappy sandals would be fine), and a black pashmina (you can get those on the internet for like $15). It’ll look great.

nordstroms.com has a bunch of nice dresses with sleeves, so you can skip a cardigan. I found this one, which is pretty and looks like it will have some belly room:

Black or maroon tights under that and you’d be good to go! Also, a jersey wrap dress with sleeves (again, there’s a ton on Nordstroms) will probaby be really comfortable.

peachacid:  First of all, the uterus doesn’t even rise above the pelvis until after about 12 weeks, so the fact that you are not showing yet is nothing to be worried about. Women are also slower to show in the first pregnancy because the abdominal muscles have never been stretched in a previous pregnancy.

The uterus can also rest in the  body in a number of positions. If it is tipped back, you will not show as early.

Having said all that, if I were 14 weeks pregnant and buying a new dress, I would want to spend my money on something I could also wear later in my pregnancy-maybe around the holidays. It doesn’t need to be a maternity dress per se, but just not such a fiitted waist-  an empire waist or a shift style.

I love the dress you picked out. I’d wear it with opaque black tights (totally still in!), not nylons, and black wedges. Some kind of pashmina/wrap/shawl should keep you warm enough.

And I think if you aren’t showing now, you’ll only barely be showing in 3 weeks if at all. I was like you during my first pregnancy and didn’t show till… I don’t remember, but it was late! At 14 weeks I wasn’t showing and at 17 I was definitely still in my regular clothing.

julies1949:  That first modcloth dress is really cute! So, glad I saw it 😉

These ladies are giving you such good suggestions! I love the idea of black tights and black wedges, ankle boots with that dress. I have a wedding that same weekend, however it’s in TX and I think the tights might actually be too hot for me! Do mind sharing where you found the dress? I really love it!
