So I had my make-up trial, and it went really well. My MUA was really advising me to get false extensions, saying about 60% of her brides get them, and that they look so much more natural than false lashes (although I think the medium individual ones look pretty natural). She really doesn’t like false lashes i guess, she either likes mascara or extensions. (For the record, she wasn’t pushing for her to do it and make money, but just that she advises people to get them.) I was a bit surprised by how adamant she was about extensions. I was planning to go with the individual false lashes. I am a bit worried about mascara running if I cry (I am positive I will tear up when my mother is mentioned, who passed away years ago), so part of me is thinking of getting the extensions. However, they are another expense, and I am worried they will annoy me and be too over the top in my normal life (I work a lot with microscopes) or I will have a bad reaction. Anyone else have experience with both?

Strip lashes are fine. I wear them all the time and people rave about how great they look. Maybe she’s just not as good at doing strip lashes. Either way, I’d choose the individual lashes over extensions just because I don’t think the price for extensions is worth it IMO.

I don’t have any experience with lash extensions, but i don’t think i’d ever spend the money on them. They’re too expensive when strip or individual false lashes are so easy to use, inexpensive, and look great.

If you haven’t had extensions before, I would try them out before you decide anything. I only use the strips, but my coworker does extensions every now and again for special occassions and can only stand them for a day or two at the most before picking them out. It’s hard to wash your face and you just have to be very conscious overall with touching your eyes. Another friend did it for the first time and says she won’t ever again. On the other side of the coin, I have another coworker who gets them done every month. So you’ll just have to try them out and see!
Personally I still use mascara with strip lashes just to “glue” them together with my natural ones, and give it even more pop (which is needed for photos). Just use waterproof

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my eyelash extensions. If you go to a really good place, you’ll pay a fair amount for them, but they aren’t as high maintenance as PP was saying.
I wash my face normally, and dry by dabbing with a towel. Then I use the little brush I was given to sort them out (cause they’re long they sometimes need a bit of grooming), and finally I use a bit of sealant (bought from my lash salon) to keep them in place for the day.
I love being able to go through life never feeling like my face needs anything more than what I roll out of bed with.

I paid a ridiculous amount and went to a very reputable place to get my eyelash extensions. I thought it was awesome that I could get that lush lash look without mascara. WRONG. They did not last on me (in fact they lasted about 6 days before I had them almost completely out) and I rarely wear makeup, so it wasn’t the mascara or anything.
For my wedding, my makeup artist stacked two different sets of false lashes and they looked great and didn’t budge (even when I cried). I didn’t use waterproof mascara.
If you want the extensions, test them out before the wedding but be advised that they will make your real lashes sparse and short after the fact.

I use both; I’ve had extensions on for almost 3 years now, and I occassionally use the strip lashes on top of them, when I have a party or special event.
Personally, I love my extensions. I’ve been going to an amazing technician who makes them look so natural (I’ve seen some scary extensions…) and no one ever asks if they’re fake, they just comment how gorgeous my long lashes are . I don’t wear any makeup on a daily basis because the lashes make my eyes stand out. I especially love them when I’m on vacation. They’re so low maintenance and I still practice hot yoga (ok, well not since getting pregnant) and wash my face as normal.
A high-quality technician is important; from my experience, you get what you pay for.
Editing to add: extensions don’t make your natural lashes shorter, weaker or more sparse. If your technician is applying them correctly (only applying a single fiber to each natural hair, not multiple; only applying to adult hairs, not baby ones, etc.) your lashes will be fine.

I wear strip lashes everyday, just personal preference really.
I’ve done the individual ones you can do yourself before, and they were fine, I just prefer the strip ones. I’ve never paid for anyone to do them on me so i cant comment on that
the only thing you can really do is try them out for yourself, though personally I reccomend strips

BigPapasOldLady: Hmm, I don’t think that’s always the case but def makes a difference. I paid hundreds of dollars for mine and my technician had been doing them for years and the salon is well-known for applying them and they still didn’t work for me. I just think that they aren’t for everyone.

I will definitely use false eyelashes. They will make my eyes look more expressive. I’ve never used them before, but I have 1 month to get used to them))

I’ve never tried eyelash extensions but I’m planning on purchasing a groupon for them for an upcoming trip to Puerto Rico and then decide whether I want to do them for my wedding next August. I know you get what you pay for but I plan on researching the salon providing the groupon, and not just going through anyone. On the flip side of the coin, I cannot stand fake eyelashes on myself, my friends wear them all the time, and they look great, but I cannot wear them. My eyelashes are very naturally curly, and they just don’t work for me. So I think you can get a great look with fake eyelashes absolutely, as long as you’re comfortable wearing them.

happycamper8: Lash extensions look beautiful….however, I had mine removed the proper way at the salon and it still pulled my real lashes out. I had bald patches for months. I would stick with a good quality lash strip like Velour Lashes.

happycamper8: A bunch of my friends have gotten them, usually for their weddings and love them. I think I’m going to do it to. Although, I’m blonde, and my eyelashes are… blonde. So I don’t know what’s going to happen.

This was actually a tiny wedding regret for me! I got extensions done because it was a destination wedding so I was also on vacation. For the trip, they were great because I never had to wear mascara.
But for my wedding day, they definitely didn’t look as dynamic and eye popping as false lashes. I personally love the strip. I wear them a lot and I think they look much better than eyelash extensions if applied correctly.

has anyone ever worn extensions with contacts? I dont usually have an issue with false ones with my contacts but was just wondering about extensions
