The most common reason for a false negative is testing too early. If you're 8 days late, it probably wouldn't hurt to take a pregnancy test if you haven't already. If you're normally regular and you don't start soon, you may want to contact your doctor's office.
Never been pregnant myself, but was JUST talking to my friend who says she is one of the few people who does not get positive pregancy tests. She is pregnant for the second time right now, and she is falsely testing negative, which also happened throughout her entire first pregnancy. It was only detected both times through bloodwork. She said her MD said it happens, though rarely! (Not rare to have false neg's at all I think when testing early, incorrectly, etc, but I mean rare in that throughout pregnancies she never got a single positive)
@monalisa670: Wow that is interesting to think someone can test negative the entire pregnancy! (except for blood) I would have never thought.
@EvaBostonTerrier: Just an update, I tested at 6 days late and it was negative. I talked to my doctor and he said to wait one more week until after i'm 2 weeks and come in for a test. So I gotta wait a little bit longer :-/
@HotPinkPopTart: Oy, sorry, I posted that a couple seconds right before you clarified. I was a week late a few months ago (right about the time we started TTC). I didn't even realize it will we got back from visiting my inlaws for Thanksgiving. I took a test the night we got back (at about 5 days late) and it was negative. I got my period 2 days later. I still don't know why I was so late, but it does happen.
I have a friend who never tested positive on a pregnancy test. No idea why, but she said she'd take them every month up until delivery and never had a positive. I don't think it's fairly common, but it seems that everybody knows somebody that it happened to. 8 days late when you're pretty regular seems like you should see a doc soon for a blood test at least, to see if something else is up.
I have a friend that also tested negative though her bloodwork was positive. She may have been testing too early though. She didn't wait long before going to see a doctor.
Thank you ladies for your replies :"]] I have a doctors appt. next week

After reading a recent post about a false positive, I had been searching for some that talked about the fasle negative, but didn't find anything. Have any of you bee's had this happen? How long did it take to get a positive pregnancy test, or for you to get your AF? I'm currently 8 days late and I understand that there are many reasons for a delayed AF. Just curious to see how common it is among us. Thank you for your input ladies! I appreciate it!
