Were the other tests early results test as well? Every test out there has different sensitivities to detect hcg levels. How late are you? Just bc it's a faint line doesn't mean it's not positive and just bc others have gotten a positive then not be pregnant doesn't mean you are following the same fate. Just trying to give you some hope..:) Sometimes it can appear as a "false +" if one tests too early then actually goes on to have a chemical pregnancy and receive their period meaning it didn't fully implant or other issues.
I'm 5 days past the expected first day of my period. The follow up brand name tests that I tried were First Response Early Result and the EPT digital. I don't know if the ept is an early response - don't think so. I have a feeling it's probably a faulty test.. I've never had a false positive before (and I have taken a TON of tests over the past 12 years), and I found people online who claim that EVERY "Equate" brand early result test they've taken has come up positive. I almost want to buy another pack and have the hubs pee on it and see if it comes up positive. This is not a fun situation to deal with. :(
That's such a hard thing to deal with....I've never heard of false positives, but have read that there can be an evaporation line that shows up in the test window...maybe this is what you were seeing? Did you wait a longer period of time to view the results?
Could you go and buy other brand tests to test with?
ETA: Planned Parenthood will provide free pregnancy tests if you have one near you (saves you some money).
Maybe call your doc and ask for a blood test to confirm either way? Uusally, this can be done same day. You go in and get the labs done and can find out the results later in the day.
I waited the suggested amount of time... The line appeared almost immediately. I think I'll just wait it out and restest in a few days with a reliable brand name.
@MaggieGirl: I really hope this is a positive for you.
Last month I had an evap line on a cheepy internet strip. It sucks!
BTW, Target brand generic pregnancy tests SUCK! I've purchased 2 boxes on 2 different occasions and one of them was always faulty - as in blank screen. If you're looking for a deal, Target.com has a coupon section and every once in a while they have a $2 off coupon for First Response tests, and the First Response website itself gives away $2 coupons. Target lets you stack one Target coupon and 1 manufacturer coupon, so that would be a total of $4.00 off.

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for a very long time. I've used nearly every brand of home pregnancy test under the sun and have never gotten a false positive. Yesterday, I was in our local Walmart and my favorite brand was sold out. I made what proved to be a stupid decision and purchased the "Equate" brand (the Walmart generic store brand) Early Result Home Pregnancy Test. There were two tests in the box, and I took the first test. There was a very faint positive result, and from what I've ever heard if you see a line, even if it's a little faint, it's still a positive result. To make sure, I waited a few hours and took the second test. This one also showed a line, this time a little more pronounced (but still fainter than the control line).
Because the line was faint, my husband wasn't convinced it was a true positive so I did a little research online. Many of the reviews of this product on the Walmart.com website showed that other people have gotten false positives as well. One woman even said that EVERY Equate test she's tried has come out positive. I went to CVS and bought a couple different brand name tests last night and took them this morning and they all came back negative. :(
Was wondering if anyone else has tried this brand & has had the same results. I see it is "no longer available" on walmart.com and wonder why it hasn't been pulled from the shelves in my local store. I feel like I've been on an emotional rollercoaster ride over the last 24 hours. :(
