I was watching a repeat of LA Ink last night and this one guy got a tattoo of his grandmother on his left boob above his heart.

It made me wonder how you would feel about your SO getting a tat of someones face?  Are there relatives you would object to?

All I could think about was DH getting his mom's face tattooed on and I thought "Eww" and tried to find a place where I would be okay with it...I wouldn't ever want to see it.  To me, it would be a little weird having sex with DH and looking up to his mom, LOL!

I read this the other way around: "Family members' bodies tattooed on your SO's face"

    Totally different meaning. :p

I'm a huge tat fan, but yeah, the looking at moms during boot-knocking would be a little awkward.

lol thats kind of hilarious. also, is it a "boob" on a guy? can we agree on the word "peck" so we don't all get grossed out? :)

I'm not a huge fan of the faces-on-people thing honestly but i do understand it if its a memorial thing. i bet after a few weeks you're just used to it and don't even notice it anymore.

@Corgi, I was thinking "boob on a guy?" also!! HAHA.

I've seen a lot of people do these with deceased family members, like children. I much prefer what my mom did: she had my brother's name in Korean on the back of her neck. She wears her hair down all the time so it stays hidden and it's in korean, so not many peopel get it right away

Ugh.. My future husband has his ex-wife's name across his stomach.  He's doing chemical peels to try to get it off.. it's fading, SLOWLY.  He also tattooed his wedding ring on.. so we got one that was wide enough to cover that up & he has the name of her son tatooed on his right arm... it's pretty obscure, so that one doesn't really bother me...  Really it's just the name.. and it bothers him too, but we don't have the cash for laser removal... so we are hoping we can really fade it with the peels.. ugh..  I'm so glad that her face isn't somewhere!!!

I don't love portrait tattoos. Half they time they look like zombie versions of the person you wanted to commemorate!

hmm. Well I wouldn't not be okay with it..especially since he won't let me get a tattoo lol. But having tattoo faces isn't something I'd like to see when we're trying to have sexy.

    I agree, its kinda creepy.

first of all I love LA Ink! and the weird thing is i dont have any tattoos or any interest in getting one...but I just think its so cool.

Your grandma on your chest? a little strange...but I LOL'd at the guy who got a baked potato on his bicep. As I like to say...to each his own!

Speaking of 'bad' tattoos...once i waited on a table and the lady had "James' Bitch" on her NECK. I was like, 'Eek..." run and hide! I would never put my husband's name, then "bitch". I'm not his bitch! Who does that!

Anyways, can you tell the memory stuck with me? lol

i would not be okay with it... esp if it was on his chest...

FI's got two tat's that i absolutely diiiie for; but the image of a family member on his body (although i do understand the symbolism) would reaaaally make it hard during dirttty time!

For me since me and his mom don't get a long, I would hate having to stare at her everyday.  With that said the only place I could come up with that I don't see on a daily basis (or really ever for one of them) is his butt crack and inner thigh, or the bottom of his foot.

I think what would bother me more is the moob.

But get rid of that, and yeah, I'd be uncomfortable with a face staring back at me from his peck!

I have never seen anyone inked with a face that actually looked good.  Ever.  I'm not sure it's actually possible.  I've even seem commemerative dog tattoos that made the Resident Evil dogs look adorable.

@Mighty Sapphire - LOL! You're hilarious! You might be right, the moob is the first problem, the ugly tattoo is second. I've never heard of a commemorative dog tattoo! LOL!

@sweetadeline - HAHA! Zombie versions. Now, if they deliberately wanted a zombie version i think those portraits are a great idea! otherwise not so much. You have to have a TALENTED PORTRAIT ARTIST workin' on those things or ELSE. Everybody's seen those websites / email forwards. Don't be a statistic people. Always spell check and make sure you're not getting something you can only read in a mirror, haha.

For the record, i enjoy tattoos on other people, but not really for me. Not counting it out, but I haven't ever been interested. I'd consider maybe a nose piercing, but that can be removed. A face on your moob is foreverrrr

I love tattoos but I am not a big fan of portrait tattoos.

Also, this post reminds me of this:

I dont think I would like to see my MIL on my husband especially during special moments.. haha. However, My cousin has a portrait of his son on his forearm.. it is black and white and just the eyes are colored in hazel, which is the color of his eyes. I think it is adorable and well done.

Well, my DH isn't into tats, but if he was, I so wouldn't want him to get one of someone else's face on it.  I mean, what if we were doing the horzontal tango and I just happen to look at the tattoo and see dear ol grandma's face on his chest?  Yeah, instant mood killer for me. lol
