I had a headband..loved it, but it HURT!! Wearing it for a good 5-6 hours almost killed me. I switched the position a bit after a couple of hours. I'm sure you could make a fascinator stay. So if you find one you really like, I think it'd be better.
@Mrs Green Grass: That is SO helpful because I was really worried about pain from a headband. I can wear them sometimes when they're thicker/looser... but a lot of the ones I'm seeing on Etsy seem to be made with those thin silver metal bands, and I recall that those KILL after about 10 minutes! Very good point.
I'm wearing a ribbon headband:

I love it. It looks even better in person! And I will also be wearing a veil for the ceremony.
I was thinking about going with a headband for the ease of keeping it in place, until I remembered that that ease comes from the fact that headbands DIG into my head like none other. I agree that there HAS to be a way to get a fascinator to stay in place solidly... though I am intrigued by the ribbon headband idea... though also concerned about how that would stay in place. Ribbons tend to slip around in my hair a lot.
So, I'll probably be going with a fascinator. :)
I am going to wear this! I hope it doesn't hurt too much! I didn't even think about it!

I bought a headband that I am DEFINITELY wearing for ceremony, but still toying around with the idea of getting a fascinator to wear for the reception...best of both worlds!
@FutureMrsSitler: Hmm interesting idea! Although for me, I worry I'd forget to make the switch! I think just taking the veil off and bustling the dress will be enough for me :)
Love the ribbon headbands. However, I'll be wearing my hair ALL down and have very thick hair, so I just don't think that would work with tying it at the bottom. Love it with the hair up though!
I'm still concerned about buying a fascinator online and not having it work well... do you think you can bobby pin them somehow to stay put?
I am planning to wear a fascinator as well, I can't stand the pain and pressure from a headband. Even trying on a few of the bridal headbands I found that they were extremely heavy.
For the fascinator how are you planning to wear your hair? A little backcombing (if it fits the style) and some blend-in bobby pins should do the trick. Seems to work for me and I have extremely thick hair making it difficult for any fancy accessories to stay put.
I went with a sparkly headband it looks awesome, I couldnt be more happy!!

I am a bit torn between having a headband or a flower/feather fascinator. I'd love to hear what you wore or are wearing, and see your pics! How did you decide between the two?
My worry with a flower piece that has a comb attached is that it will slide right out.... Did you find that an issue? Did you pin yours somehow?
THANKS!!!
