I've never heard of any that actually work. Everyone's body is different on top of that.

Nope, I do not believe they work.  I took them for a bit in college when I was young and stupid.  They just made me feel super-jittery and messed up my metabolism.

No, no, no absolutely not. Putting chemicals like that in your body is aweful. I would focus on the healthy things you can afford to eat and a good exercise routine.

And you will be surprised at how much "healthy" food you can afford when you cut out all of the junk/fastfood. Don't buy juice/soda/sports drinks and focus on just drinking water. Cut out chips and other highly processed snack foods. Don't go to fast food restaurants. You will be surprised how much more money you have when you stop buying the bad stuff.

Instead buy chicken breasts when they are on sale and store them in the freezer. Focus on more hearty fruits and veggies that won't go bad as quickly (apples, carrots, etc.). If you have a farmers market around you they can have really reasonable, fresh, healthy, groceries.

I know what it is like to be on a super small budget and have very little to spend on weekly shopping (poor college student!). But if you make it a priority it can be done.

Just PLEASE don't take any diet pills.

I took "fat burners" for awhile.  (Not diet pills, btw, there are supplements that are fat burners that don't have all that junk in them, I got them at my gym).  They don't work.  I didn't notice a difference.

I have, however, started cutting my bad carbs and eating lots of fruits and veggies and motivating myself to go to the gym.  THAT has been incredibly effective at losing weight and I feel better when I eat healthier.  If there are some local produce marts near you, try looking there- the veggies and fruits are usually cheaper vs the grocery store.

There aren't any shortcuts to losing weight.  I mean, there kind of are (cutting out carbs ala South Beach Diet for a couple of weeks seems to make my friends drop weight like crazy) but it's diet and exercise, calorie intake vs calorie burn.  Don't waste your money on diet pills!

And even if you don't have the extra money to join a gym, walking/running outside is FREE and one of my favorite exercise activities!

if they worked, don't you think everybody would know about them?!  THEY DON'T WORK.  save yourself the money and exercise!  and, it is true that it costs more money to eat healthy, but do what you can with what you've got.  don't put mayo on things.  don't drink soda or eat candy.  ask for the healthy sides (fruit, veggies, applesauce, etc.) when eating out instead of the fries.  and don't forget, frozen veggies are really cheap and just as good for you!

Acetyl L Carnetine is something a vinegar like substance that you can get at the Health Food Store. My very Fit personal trainer swears by it. Take it in water 20 min b4 exercise and it speeds up your metabolism and gives you energy. It really does work and it is cheap and readily available.

like everyone else has said NO they do NOT work - but like simpleandchic mentioned - acetyl L Carnetine can help. I take this myself. google the information about it. It's an amino acid. Also CLA and GLA combination can help too.

BUT in giving you those three options (that I myself take) I will also tell you I eat a very healthy NO processed foods - WHOLE FOODS only diet. no soda pop - no junk food - NO grains (for my body, my body doesn't processes grains like some do). and yes I am on atkins (not for everyone, but worked for me, I lost 30 pounds and have maintained for 4 months now).

changing your lifestyle is the honest to god ONLY way to lose weight and keep it off. find a plan (low-carb OR low-fat) and stick to it.

I will tell you - of my own personal experiences having lost a significant amount of weight on both low-fat dieting (weight watchers) and low-carb dieting (atkins) - that low-carb is the easier way to MAINTAIN once you've lost the weight - AND it's SO much healthier.

I should have been more clear when I suggested acytel L Carnetine. I exercise heaps and eat really healthy and calorie controlled.  I take things like acytyl L carnetine and Protein shakes and spirolina to try and make my body work even better, but if you dont exercise regularly and watch what u eat then these things prob wont make much difference

I don't eat healthy at all and I need to lose about 20lbs. In the past couple of weeks I have cut my bread intake considerable, starting eating the auctivia yogurt; the lite one with 12g of fibre and substiuted my snack; which used to be fibre bars, with Special K crackers; you can have 17 per serving. I have also increased my exercise just a little bit. My schedule doesn't allow for much, but I have lost 7 to 8 pounds depending on what time of day I weigh myself. That is about 3 to 4 pounds each week. I am very excited about this and hope it continues. I am also eating more salads and have cut my soda intake by half. I have substituted green tea for the soda.

I follow a whole-foods only vegetarian diet (zero processed food), and it keeps me in great shape. Some people can do Atkins/no-carb-low-carb diets, but that would make me gain massive amounts of weight and feel like total crap. I have to be no meat, normal carb intake- different things work for different people, just gotta test the waters!

There are commercials on the radio here in Michigan for HealthyTrim.  A few DJ's have been taking them and losing weight.  Im wondering what the deal is with them...size effects etc

@nicole61183 - just because a DJ advertises something and says they are using it doesn't mean they actually do. Most places like that pay the djs to read a script and lead listeners to believe that it works so that the companies get business. But there is nothing to guarantee that anything actually works or is healthy or legal. That's why they say to not believe everything you hear or see.

I think that if they worked, Oprah would take them and we would all know about it. I would spend your money on fresh fruits and veggies instead and make smart choices. :)

@Ember   I dont want to try them, and I do find it funny that 2 different DJ's on 2 different stations are saying basically the same thing.
