they all seem so stupid and sappy. I don't want anything like that. I really just don't know what to pick. I'm so confused. I don't like any of the songs! What do you do if you don't like any of the typical "daddy/daughter" songs? Father/ Daughter dance ... dont like any songs for this dance, cannot DECIDE : wedding Icon Sad

We used "Forever Young" by Rod Stewart. It's not terribly sappy but expresses sentiment from parent to child.

    Good luck finding something!

My dad made me promise to not pick a song that was too emotional b/c the day is already going to be tough on him.  I've decided to play something by Phil Collins/Genesis b/c I have so many memories of him busting out the air guitar, I know everyone will get a kick out of it.  I figure you can pretty much dance/sway to anything, why not dance to a song that brings back great memories?  Even if the rest of your guests don't understand it will have special meaning to you and your dad.

I feel the same way about the father-daughter dance songs! What type of music do you and your father like? Are there any singers/groups that you both like?? My dad and I both like the Beatles so we are considering "In my life". We are also thinking about "Rainbow Connection" :)

I feel the same way. I've always liked "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." The Ukelele version is my favorite. Not father-daugther-ish exactly, but that's why I like it.

Hi everyone!  I am using Bob Seger "Like A Rock".  Nothing in the song about marriage, but it has always brought my dad to mind when I hear it.  Plus, my whole family and fiancee's are classic rock junkies.  It will be a hit on our day.

This may be 'sappy' for some people but it's a little more upbeat than most Father/daughter songs.  My dad and I decided to dance to " Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder.  Tyr some oldies taht have more upbeat tunes and not tear jerker ones.

I'm not doing a father/daughter dance because my dad's not in the picture, but we're doing a family dance wherein I'll start with my uncle, together with FI and his mom, and switch out different family members. We chose "Under My Skin" by Frank Sinatra because it wasn't sappy, and it was also upbeat, but not so fast that you had to actually dance to it (we can still hug 'n sway). Our whole wedding is rat pack/crooner/motown oldies music though, so it fit with our theme :)

I just just pick a song you both like. My Girl is cute. Any oldies song will work :) It doesn't have to be about a daughter/father relationship.

We are dancing together to the song I was named after.  This song is definitely NOT a traditional father/daughter song, but this was my dad's one requirement for the wedding as he was the one who named me. :o)

My dad and i do not have a close relationship, and we have been on opposite sides of the country for 10 years now, so i dont want anything too sappy but i do want to get him involved, so i picked youve got a friend by james taylor and he told me it was an "odd" choice so i have him 2 other options; daughters by john mayer or isnt she lovely by stevie wonder. Frustraiting...

We chose "Never Alone" by Lady Antelbellum.  The song reminded me of an Irish Blessing and my family is very Irish.  Also, like many other brides, its not the typical tear jerker...gag :)
