I love that song! Like you said, I've always thought of it as a more romantic song, but if you want to use it as father/daughter, that would be cute...especially the "rogaine" part! :)
I am either doing "Tiny Dancer" from Elton John or "Moon River" from Breakfast at Tiffany's by Andy Williams. My dad sang both to me as a kid and they seems to be the right tempo for a father daughter dance.
You should listen to "Always be your baby" by Natalie Grant. I cried when I heard it. I chose this one because I wanted to do a song to my dad from me instead of to me from him. It is a beautiful song. Hope you like and CONGRATS!!
I was thinking of using that song for the cake cutting, but I think that using it for the father/daughter dance is a good idea too!
We used "I loved her first" by Heartland.
I told my dad that I wanted to have a father-daughter dance, and that he could pick any song he wanted. He picked that song, and just thinking about it makes me tear up. (meaning the song meant alot more by having him pick it). All the Fathers and Daughters at our wedding danced to it. I thought he was going to pick some rocking RollingStones or something, haha. (We also had a parent dance and used There You'll be- Faith Hill)
Does your father have any ideas for a song??
I chose a song my dad used to play all the time when I was little. It was our song, and until I dug up the CD, I hadn't heard it for almost 20 years. It's called "You're the only little girl", I think, by Steve and Annie Chapman. It's not a very good song, per se, but it's special for sentimental reasons. I know my dad will just bawl. Hehehe.
I'm still undecided on whether or not we will be doing one, but if we do I really want to do Daddy's Hands by Holly Dunn
First wedding we danced to "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole & Natalie Cole. I loved it because it's a father and daughter singing the song. Very sweet!
My dad and I aren't particularly close, but I know it will be WW3 if we don't do a father/daughter dance. Any suggestions for a song? I'm trying to stay away from anything overtly sentimental since it will just make me pissy mid-song :) Thanks!

What songs are people using for the father/daughter dance?
I have been thinking about using Ingrid Michaelson's "The Way I Am". I think its a really fantastic song, and even though it is obviously geared toward lovers/romantic couples, I think the lyrics are sweet for father/daughter, like 'I love the way you call me baby, and you take me the way I am" and "If you were falling, then I would catch you." Thoughts?
